Some meetings in life almost seem like they are fated to happen. Two people meeting by happenstance and becoming best friends, someone being in the right place at the right time, or, in the case of two German shepherds, Hubble and Huckleberry, somehow finding their way to the same forever home.

The story of their two sad journeys is a heartwarming reminder that sometimes fate intervenes to bring two kindred souls together despite the odds.

Two German shepherds are rescued on the same day

Rescued on the same day in October 2019, Hubble and Huckleberry were found in two different countries. At the time, nobody knew that they would end up together in the same home. Hubble was found in an agricultural field in Bakersfield, California, where he had been abandoned. Blind since birth, the German shepherd was 11 months old when he was found.

In addition to being blind, Hubble was also overweight. He was taken in by the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County, where staff put him on a diet to lose his excess weight. He also received the training he would need to help him navigate using his senses of hearing and smell.

Both dogs end up at German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County

Huckleberry grew up on the streets of Tijuana, Mexico. Rescued at just five months old, when he was first found he had advanced mange, which left him without his fur in spots. He also had suffered from abuse and malnutrition. He also found his way to the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County.

Hubble and Huckleberry are adopted into the same home

Huckleberry spent three weeks in a foster home before being adopted, along with Hubble, into the same home on the same day. Soon, Hubble had mapped out his new home to the point where you wouldn’t even know that he is blind by looking at him.

Meanwhile, Huckleberry set about growing a new coat of fur.

The two dogs have become best friends

Since being taken into their new home, the two German shepherds have become best friends and are virtually inseparable. Huckleberry has even taken it upon himself to help his pal Hubble to get around whenever they are out and about.

And Huckleberry now has a beautiful coat of fur.

German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County, where the two were adopted from, is located in Newport Beach, California, and serves the Southern California area. Using a careful screening process, the organization places abandoned, abused, and neglected German shepherds into their forever home.
