Stranger on train hands woman a note as soon as her son falls asleep
An unexpected surprise
Sammie Welch, a 29-year-old mom of a bouncy little boy named Rylan, was in for a surprise of her life when she took a train with her toddler.
In 2015, Rylan was only 3 years old when the two caught the train from Birmingham New Street to Plymouth.
They have already traveled from Crewe to Birmingham.
Parents know how hard it is to keep the kiddo entertained for hours, and Sammie and Rylan had already traveled for six hours before they entered the train in Birmingham.
Welch described her son as energetic, curious, and playful, so she kept his attention by playing with him.
Little did Sammie know that someone was watching her the whole time.
Donāt worry, the story ends well. A stranger who watched Sammie was reminded of his daughter and dazzled by the bond between Sammie and Rylan.
Rylan and his mommy counted sheep out of the train window, they did some coloring, read a book, chatted to fellow passengers, ate sandwiches, listened to nursery rhymes together, and enjoyed some sweets.
In an interview with Daily Mail, Sammie explained that Rylan is quick at picking up good manners and that heās also very good at complimenting people. The funny little fellow told everyone around him that they have hood hair.
After a lot of cuddling, Rylan eventually calmly fell asleep on his momās lap.
It was a long journey for a small child, but Sammie was great at keeping him busy. Young mom didnāt know that opposite them, across the table, sat an older man who was watching them the whole time.
She wouldnāt realize it at all, if the man didnāt approach Sammie, and handed her a note. āI think you dropped this,ā said a stranger and left. It was his stop, but he didnāt want to leave the train before giving Sammie a little gift of appreciation.
In addition to a lovely hand-written message, there was a Ā£5 note (close to $7)
Believe it or not, a stranger wrote to Sammy: āHave a drink on me. You are a credit to your generation-polite and teaching the little boy good manners.ā
Now, how lovely is that?
We have to admit, it feels nice when someone notices the effort you put into something.
The man also wrote something on the back of the paper:
āP.S. I have a daughter your age. Someone did the same for her once! Hope when she has children she is as good a mother like you!ā
Well, this is truly heart-warming. The ending said: āMan on the train at the table in glasses and hat. Have a lovely evening.ā
As you would expect, Sammie was deeply touched by the strangerās kind words, so much so that she had to find him
Soon after, Sammie shared her full story on social media, and it quickly went viral.
Ken Saunders, a 50-year-old project manager from Wiltshire, reached out. Turns out heās no stranger to random gestures of kindness, and he often does similar stuff, trying to spread positivity among people.
āI just thought she was such a good mum,ā explained Ken.
However, his acts of kindness haven’t always gone well, and he warns that āyou just have to be careful.ā Whatever the case is, we love this manās helping nature. It feels like a breath of fresh air.
Of course, the message had a huge impact on Sammie
āI was just being a normal mum, but when I read the note I felt this incredible warmth,ā she said.
We completely understand, and letās just hope that people will get used to complimenting each other more frequently.
Imagine the amount of joy that would be circulating among us.
