Adoptive family abandons 11-year-old boy, but then he meets single dad who gives him the world

Life definitely hasn’t been easy for the 11-year-old Anthony, who struggled to find himself a loving home. Even though he received good news when a family was found that was willing to adopt him, they changed their mind in the most heartbreaking way possible.

It turns out that canceling an adoption is actually possible, even after seven years.

Anthony was adopted by his family at the age of just four years old, but the family decided that they wanted to get rid of him seven years later. Out of the blue, they took him to the hospital for no reason at all and simply left him there. The best part? It was completely legal, as brutal as it was.

His former family abandoned him like a piece of garbage, and they didn’t even look back. Apparently, this wasn’t even the first time that this family played this trick, and it makes you wonder if they actually care about their adoptive children in the slightest.

Luckily, Anthony then came across Peter Mutabazi, someone who drastically changed his life for the better.

“All the promises of a forever family were thrown out the window and this young boy was left alone, abandoned, frightened, and crushed emotionally,” the man wrote.

“He didn’t know when or if they were ever coming back for him because he was not in on the plan they orchestrated to abandon their child. Most people could not conceive that a parent could do this to a child, yet this was not their first time. You see, they did the exact same thing to their other adopted son a couple of years before, sadly enough.”

Peter used to be a foster dad, and he opened up his home for two siblings in the past. The adoptive father took care of the two brothers as if they were his own children, but they had to leave the home seven months later. The Family Court simply decided that they would be reunited with their biological parents, and Peter was left heartbroken and alone.

The whole process was very emotional for the man, and he needed some time to grieve his loss.

When he got a request to take care of Anthony for a weekend, only four days after the two brothers left, Peter had his doubts about whether or not to accept it.

However, the social worker managed to convince him, and Peter’s home wouldn’t feel empty for long. “The right kid at the right time,” was the encouragement that Peter needed.

Even though he only agreed to take Anthony in for the weekend, that weekend actually turned into forever!

“Never in my wildest dreams did I anticipate I would be parenting the child of two parents who had led lives that passed the extensive background check standards involved with parenting foster children, only just to abandon not one, but two of their children.”

The man didn’t even ask the social worker about Anthony’s story or why he even ended up in foster care. Peter was hurt and didn’t want to get attached, and he knew that the original plan was for Anthony to just stay for two days.

However, when the little boy called him dad almost as soon as he came in, Peter’s world turned upsidedown.

“I told him he could call me ‘Mr. Peter’ and 20 minutes after his arrival, he asked if he could call me ‘Dad.’ What? I didn’t even know his last name, yet he was asking to call me ‘Dad.’ This was not typical, as most children in foster care initially want to remind you that you are not their father and ‘never will be.’ This child I had just met was not even presenting that argument.”

Right away, Peter made sure that Anthony knew this was only a short-term thing. He constantly kept saying “No!” and reminded him that there was no need for things to get personal.

However, when the 48 hours were over, Peter called the social worker. He wanted to learn more about this young boy and needed to hear his story.

When he learned that Anthony was abandoned, not once, but twice, his heart completely sunk. His biological mom left him when he was two, and things clearly didn’t work out with his adoptive family either.

“They signed an agreement relinquishing their parental rights and never looked back. I was completely shocked! I could not believe what I was hearing. I began to cry out of anger for what these people had done to this 11-year-old child.”

Peter made a decision not to abandon this child and he wanted to take care of him for a lot longer than just a weekend.

“I refused to allow him to be cast aside again. Besides, he was already calling me ‘Dad.’ I asked the social worker to provide me with a placement letter so I could enroll him in school the following day. She asked me about 100 times if I was serious and we both cried tears of joy.”

After a few months, the adoption was made official! Since that day, Anthony has been carrying Peter’s last name with pride.

“This is the blessing I am most thankful for in my life. It has been an amazing journey. I’m amazed at how resilient and positive he is, despite all that he has had to endure.”

What an absolutely amazing story!
