Owner of abandoned dog forgiven after rescuers read a note on the dog's backpack
Itâs easy to say that those who abandon their pets are ill-hearted people.
And it is true. Leaving an animal behind is harsh and inconsiderate, especially when your companion has done nothing but give you a love that doesnât judge or discriminate.
But there are moments when we should be reminded that some things happen for a reason. And as easy as it is to judge someone, we should remember that we have not seen the full story.
Kylie Rose Engelhardt encountered a dog around Green Bay.
She found the dog on the corner of East Walnut Street and South Clay Street. The dog piqued her interest because it was obvious that what happened to her was intentional.
The dog say quietly right beside the fire hydrant where it was tied to, and among the dogâs items was a backpack.
Engelhardt decided to stay with the dog for a little while.
She thought that maybe someone owns the dog and that theyâll come back for her after a while. She sat near the dog so she wonât spook her out.
After about an hour, however, Engelhardt claimed that no one came back for the dog.
This made Engelhardt do the next best thing â she contacted the local animal rescue shelter to get some help.
The Wisconsin Humane Society took care of the dog and named her Baby Girl.
And while it is easier to post about Baby Girlâs abandonment and put the previous owner in a bad light, the shelter remained understanding especially after they investigated further,
Baby Girl was deliberately left on her own â thatâs a fact. But the owner did so because they wanted Baby Girl to have a better life.
In a post made by the animal shelter, they reiterated that people should remain compassionate.
They thanked the owner for showing Baby Girl that she was immensely loved. They mentioned that the bag that came along with the dog had all of Baby Girlâs favorite things.
They said they also found love when the owner tied Baby Girl to a fire hydrant so she could be easily seen while also preventing her from going to dangerous places.
“And we see your love in the note you left, pleading for someone to help her when you no longer could.” The shelter added.
The local news finally tracked down the previous owner.
She described the situation as the hardest thing she has ever done in her life. She admitted that Baby Girl was her life but with the grueling events in her life, she had to face the truth that sheâd be unable to take care of her.
âRest assured that sheâs safe, sheâs getting tons of attention from our team, and sheâs on track to finding her next loving family very soon,â the shelterâs post said, âWe wish you all the best and hope that if you see this, you can rest a little easier knowing your Baby Girl has a bright future ahead.â
