Fearing she would be dumped again, abandoned puppy finds comfort in sleeping baby
For an abandoned puppy, the moment when they realize their owner is not coming back is heartbreaking. And when some of these dogs find another home, they don’t want to take their eyes off of their new owner, not even to sleep, for fear the new owner will leave them.
It’s a sad existence, but that is exactly what happened to one puppy when she was left tied to a fence by her owner. Luckily, this story has a happy ending.
Tied to a fence and abandoned
Named Callie, the puppy was tied to a fence and abandoned. Scared and crying for help, she was taken in by a kind man who heard her whimpers. Deciding to rescue her, the man brought Callie to his home. But still, she had some separation anxiety from her abandonment and it would take some time to get her to trust anyone again.
Callie fights off sleep
In a video shot by Callie’s new owner, the cute, little puppy is sitting beside the man’s sleeping baby. Even though she is tired and sleepy, Callie refuses to go to sleep. She probably thinks that as soon as she closes her eyes, her new owner will leave her, just like the last person that she loved and trusted.
Callie finally gives in, taking comfort in the baby’s presence
You can tell just how weary Callie is by the way she weaves back and forth as she sits next to the slumbering baby. Finally, it seems that she has had enough and so she drags herself around on the blanket on which they are on. Reaching the baby’s side, Callie finally lays her head across the baby’s back to rest.
Snuggling up to the baby, Callie probably feels safe for the first time since she was abandoned. The baby’s presence seems to have eased her fears somewhat and she can now, finally, get some sleep after resisting for so long.
A video of Calli and the baby goes viral
So far, the video of Callie and the baby, which was posted on YouTube, has gained over 92 million views and has been liked over 526,000 times. People just can’t seem to get enough of the cute little puppy taking comfort in the baby by her side.
Callie’s owner even posted an update years later showing the two, with the baby now a three-year-old toddler.
Callie was able to find her forever home
It seems that their first meeting sparked a lifelong friendship. Fortunately, Callie was able to find a loving home and finally was able to get over her fear of being abandoned again.
