Sweet dog shares his favorite toy with newborn baby every time he cries
More often than not, children and dogs will get along just fine. A little bit of an adjustment period may be needed when introducing a baby to your dog. So couples rely on chance, and luck.
A couple in California found themselves super lucky. No adjustment period was required when their dog Brutus welcomed a baby into his family.

Brutus the Bullmastiff found himself rescued in 2016. So when Bonnie Michalek discovered she was pregnant, she knew her big pup wouldn’t give her any problems.
Brutus is loving and sweet, and he does like kids so Bonnie knew he’d welcome the newborn.

She explained to The Dodo, “He’s always loved kids. Every time he’s heard kids outside laughing, he gets excited.”
Bonnie even feels that Brutus probably knew she was pregnant before she even knew it.
“Brutus knew I was pregnant before I did – he definitely sensed it before I knew. On the nights my husband was working Brutus refused to be in his crate,” she explained.

Bonnie went on to narrate how Brutus just wanted to be next to her. The dog would do anything and everything to be by her side.
So looking back, she believes Brutus could already sense the little human growing inside of her.
The expecting couple knew a transition had to be made, so to make it easier on Brutus, they included him in all the preparations they made to the home. When the couple finally brought little Kayden home, Brutus had to go spend some time at grandma and grandpa’s house for awhile.

When Brutus finally came back home, Bonnie took the dog with her for some alone time before she let him meet the newest family member.
And when the moment to meet each other finally came, it was simply magic.
Bonnie recalled the moment her baby and the dog met, “Brutus completely bypassed my husband to meet Kayden. He immediately wanted to give him kisses and snuggle up to him.”

Brutus and Kayden bonded instantaneously.
Whenever little Kayden cries, Brutus will suddenly appear ready to provide some soothing comfort for the child.

What surprised everyone the most was Brutus’ action of bringing Kayden’s favorite toy. A large, fluffy, yellow ball.
“He grabs his favorite toy to bring it to Kayden to console him!” Bonnie shared.
The sweetest part about it all is that the fluffy ball Brutus brings to Kayden is the same exact one the dog had since he was a young puppy.

The ball is Brutus’ go-to toy for comfort. He’s shredded his other toys but he shares the ball with Kayden which shows just how much this dog loves his little human friend.

Kayden is a little bigger now but he and Brutus are still the best of friends. Kayden is fortunate to be loved and protected by Brutus, and there is no doubt that Brutus will always be there for him.
It’s a bond they’ll share for life.
