Talent shows are extremely popular in our society. If you’re good at a specific talent, why wouldn’t you audition for them?

Everyone wants to win, but each competitor has a different motivation or inspiration that helps them really strive to win the talent show. They all have a backstory that’s beautiful to tell.

Some are inspired by a mentor or friend, while others want to prove to themselves to everyone.

But others find inspiration and motivation in a much smaller place. Their children.

Joseph Whelan has been jumping around from band to band for years.

The 26-year-old makes a living by selling tools, and also has a dashing four-year-old son.

He wants to use this audition on the X-Factor to be an inspiration to his son.

Joseph wants to show his boy that he can do anything he wants in life if he works hard!

A well-built man, with multiple tattoos, Joseph was definitely popular with the ladies in the crowd.

Joseph enjoyed the crowd and used their energy to push even higher!

But there wasn’t a soul in the building that could have predicted what would take place next. Joseph begins to sing, and the judges jaws drop.

He has a very special voice that’s powerful, controlled, and unique from other popular singers.

He performs like he is comfortable in his own style. The whole crowd is in awe as they watch Joseph go from shy father to a talented musician.

Everybody loves his performance! But the biggest fan wasn’t one you could find in the crowd. Nope, he was actually watching the performance backstage.

Be prepared, the camera soon pans over to Joseph’s son who is dancing along to the song. It will turn you into an absolute crying mess. The whole scene is just so precious!

Then, the boy goes running onto the stage and jumps into his father’s arms.

He begins telling Joseph how well he did, and the two share some tears together on stage. What a beautiful father-son relationship!

What a story!

Although Joseph didn’t win, he returned to X-Factor a year later and auditioned again, this time with a stunning performance of a Bon Jovi classic.

Joseph is just like all of us. Trying to help his family, and trying to make a name for himself.

Later on in the extensive season and auditioning process, Joseph starts sobbing when the judges deliver a final verdict on his performance of Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls. It doesn’t matter if he didn’t make it to the end. We could put his smooth voice on repeat!

The support from all of the Youtube comments was amazing too:

“This is amazing. And the fact that he has his son with him and his mother. That’s just beautiful. Congratulations bro.”

But don’t be fooled, Joseph’s looks were still a hot topic of discussion!

“Every girl wants to be with him

Every guy wants to look like him”

Whatever the reason for support, you can’t deny that this performance is one that you won’t soon forget!
