Adorable toddler sings "Better Than Blessed" in passionate car seat performance
There’s no denying that all toddlers are equally adorable in their own way, but there’s something particularly special about toddlers who sing. At such a young age, kids don’t care whether their voices are that of an angel or or banshee. If they love a song, you best believe they’re going to put on the performance of a lifetime.
Each child develops their own music taste from a young age, and often their love of a certain genre or style comes from their parents. In the case of this story, the music style of choice is gospel.
The video shows a little boy in a car seat in the back of his mom’s car. Mom puts on a song, and the toddler’s eyes become wide as he realises what it is.
The song is Louise “Candy” Davis’ “Better Than Blessed.” It was released in 1985, but it’s a rare timeless classic that is unlikely to ever be forgotten. The lyrics are incredibly powerful, and shine a light of positivity, hope and happiness to simply be alive in this world.
As it turns out, “Better Than Blessed” is one of this little lad’s favorites. As soon as the beautiful organ music begins to play, the toddler comes to life. Mom adjusts her camera to get a better shot of her son – and then the lyrics kick in.
Louise “Candy” Davis begins to sing:
“I’m blessed, better than blessed,”‘
And the toddler sings right along with her. There’s no denying that the lad’s voice needs a bit of fine-tuning. It’s more of a shout than a sing, but coming from his tiny lungs, it’s too ridiculously cute for words.
At the next line, “Praise the Lord”, Louise “Candy” Davis shows off her incredible voice by holding a single note for several seconds. Not to be defeated, the little boy holds his note for just as long! He’s clearly had plenty of singing practice, as he knows the timing of the song perfectly.
As the song progresses, the little boy only becomes more enthusiastic. He’s singing with so much gusto that he can’t stay still in his seat. He’s giving even the most powerful of gospel singers a run for her money.
Then we hit the next verse, and it seems the toddler has lost where he’s at in the song. Mom encouragingly sings along, but her son is frowning in concentration, listening to the lyrics and mouthing along to some of the lines he’s more familiar with. You can tell how much he wants to know all the words, like mom – but for now he’s content to sit back and listen to his favorite lady sing to him.
As the chorus comes back around, mom continues to sing to her son, and he smiles and hits his head on the back of his chair, clearly in his happy place. He listens quietly to the music until the very last chorus, when he kicks in once more with an “I’m blessed…” even pointing his finger for emphasis.
If this isn’t the proof of the power of music, we don’t know what is. Listening to a song of sadness and hurt can put a dampener on your spirits, while listening to one of joyful positivity can improve your mood like nothing else. This mom couldn’t have chose a better piece of music to play to her son on a regular basis.
