The air fryer has become this generation’s latest must-have kitchen appliance. People were happy to live their lives with their ovens, pans, and microwaves.

But then, the air fryer came out in 2010.

At first, the air fryer was marketed as an alternative to deep fryers and pan-frying, which uses lots of oil.

But now, companies manufacturing air fryers have improved their latest models. Air fryers now have the capacity to act as a second oven or pressure cooker.

In some cases, some houses will only have an air fryer to do the functions of a deep fryer, oven, and pressure cooker.

And now, during this lockdown, people are getting more and more creative with their recipes.

These people include one Australian mother, who shared her latest dessert creation for her kids on the Share Kmart Air Fryers Recipes Australia Facebook group.

Joanne Palmer posted in the group the special treat she made for her children’s dessert.

She baked Caramello Koalas and Freddos in an air fryer.

“3.2L air fryer Caramello Koala and Freddo Frog. Definitely the kids’ new favorite dessert. It tastes delicious and the chocolate melted really nicely inside. Cooked at 190C for 9 minutes,” Joanne wrote with her post.

People loved the idea and couldn’t wait to try it out for themselves! And her kids simply loved it.

“Definitely the kids’ new favorite dessert…Tasted delicious and the choc melted really nice inside,” Joanne shared.

A non-baker, like Kassia Byrnes, could even do it because the recipe was that easy.

Kassia came across the recipe in the Facebook group and was so excited to try it. Joanne had made it look so easy that she knew she could do it.

Her housemate had an air fryer that Kassia loved to use so she decided, for journalistic purposes, she would recreate this dessert herself.

All you really need to make this is the Caramello Koala and Freddos, puff pastry, milk, butter, and, of course, your air fryer. The number of chocolate you’ll need depends on how many you want and how much puff pastry you have.

For those who don’t know, Caramello Koala is a delicious milk chocolate bar with a caramel center from Cadbury Dairy Milk.

The first step includes cutting an outline of the chocolate in your puff pastry.

Place the chocolate in between two pieces of puff pastry and press the sides closed with your fingers or fork. Be sure to leave at least 2 cm extra on the edges to have enough room when you press the two sides together.

Brush the pastry with milk and butter or it’ll stick to the air fryer.

Cook the chocolate pastry for nine minutes at 190 degrees Celsius.

Serve it with vanilla ice cream once it’s cooled down. Otherwise, you’ll be eating a creamy mess.

And the verdict?

“…This is delicious! I mean, I feel a little sick now because I wolfed them both down so fast, but it’s worth it,” Kassia said when she took a bite.

Did Kassia prefer Koalas or Freddos?

“I really thought I’d be able to pick a favorite between the Caramello Koala and the Freddo Frog but [nope], I want them both in and around my mouth,” Kassia delivered her verdict.
