Animal shelter offers 'puppy snuggle sessions' and people are loving it
We all know how puppies are just little balls of sunshine. They are adorable and are always playful and excited. An encounter with one, even for just a few minutes, surely is a day-maker.
Puppies are truly sources of joy. They can easily take all the stress and pains away just by existing. Just imagine a world without puppies… what a sad world it would be, right?
Spending time with these little furballs is extremely therapeutic. However, with all the responsibilities we have in this life, adopting a puppy can be way too much to carry for some.
This is when an animal shelter came up with a brilliant idea—to offer puppy snuggle sessions as one of their services. What a genius concept!
Since puppies can provide relaxation and healing, having access to them without bearing the full responsibility of caring for one is perfect for people who are extra busy.
The Richmond Animal Care Control in Virginia thought that after all the horrible things the world has gone through in the past years, having puppies ready for some snuggle sessions is a good way to take all the stress away.
When the animal shelter received seven Great Pyrenees puppies, they officially opened the service to the public.
“After 2 years of COVID, social upheaval, and now a war, we think we could all use a little puppy cuddle time. So that’s just what we are offering! All-day Sunday 4/3, you can sign up for 30 minutes in a room at RACC to kiss these love buckets until your heart and soul is happy,” the animal shelter posted on Facebook.
The snuggle sessions are held in a private room and each runs for a total of 30 minutes. This is a complete alone time with the puppies so whether you laugh or you cry, nobody will know!
“Basically, the world is hard right now. Mental health is real. COME HUG A PUPPY,” RACC said.
What was just a simple idea turned out to be a huge hit. The animal shelter received an overwhelming 400 requests for the service in just a few hours!
The service received excellent ratings and feedback. It looks like the world needs more puppy snuggles.
According to WTVR, RACC plans to open up more snuggle sessions once more litters get into the shelter.
Since the service was put up, the animal shelter received multiple inquiries regarding adoption. As of the moment, the specific puppies involved in the snuggle sessions are not up for adoption. If anyone’s interested, there are other lovely dogs in RACC looking for families and homes.
Now that someone has started these puppy snuggle sessions, we are hoping that more shelters will open this service up.
This simple yet brilliant idea can cure so many of the world’s burdens and we need more of it!
