Army drill suddenly erupts into a hilarious line dance

Being active in the military means having a full-time job, and most soldiers live on a military base. It is an important duty, and members of U.S. military service maintain the nation’s defense.

Of course, duty can also be dangerous. It requires a lot of toughening up, and there are always some physical challenges along the way. Make no mistake, however, there are some fun parts too.

These soldiers will show off some fancy moves, as their sergeant leads them through an unconventional dance drill that’s amazed thousands of viewers.

Even a serious profession can be fun and games sometimes

We do not doubt that these men know when it’s time to get down to business, but it’s nice to see them having fun, too. There have been numerous similar videos lately, all thanks to different viral challenges. We’ve seen firefighters, marines, and nurses doing some interesting choreographies, and it’s a perfect way to boost morale. After all, they deserve a party – especially when all they do is serve the community.

Back to the Army, we’re looking at a simple three-line formation, and soldiers are doing the line dance.

On their left side is another military member. He’s wearing the same uniform, and we can hear him shouting all the moves as the choreography unravels. We soon learn that’s their Captain.

A military cadence is important for many reasons

According to Wikipedia, a military cadence is “a traditional call-and-response work song sung by military personnel while running or marching.”

They don’t just look impressive, jodies (as some call cadence calls) are also very beneficial. On the U.S. Army official website has been stated that cadences are used to “motivate, inspire and keep the soldiers’ steps in time.” They also “help the soldiers by controlling and strengthening their breathing during the strenuous marches and runs”.

Swing to the right, swing to the left

It’s only the beginning of the amusing choreography. Soldiers begin with snapping their fingers, after that goes the swinging part, and then they hit the freestyle. Each time they swing aside, you can hear a loud “whoop”. Their synchronization is quite impressive, and the way they all snap and lean at the same time is mind-blowing.

We’re proud of having these capable men defending us. Who wouldn’t feel safe after looking at them?! The best thing about the video is when they get to the freestyle part. They all laugh in disbelief, it looks as if they weren’t even aware that they can dance like that. In the end, the sergeant decides to make things twice as funny by calling himself “a crazy captain”. We love a good sense of humor.

Motivation is everything

Captain repeats a few times that his soldiers are “dynamite, fit to fight.” Not only does he repeat that, but he shouts it so that it stays carved in their minds. Yes, we agree, those men are definitely dynamite

One YouTube viewer commented: “These men are awesome. Thank you all for your service. Hugs and kisses.”

It sums up the enthusiasm everyone shared about the video. It’s been viewed more than half a million times.

Everyone’s doing their own thing

Despite their dancing military colleagues, some soldiers are running around, doing their exercises, minding their own business. Their level of focus is incredible.

It paints a wonderful picture of what the military is all about. You do your own thing, I do mine, but we’ll unite when the situation calls for it. Let’s not also forget about all those commentators who praised the sergeant’s voice.

There’s been a handful of those. It’s all good as long as we’re having fun.
