Two arrested after body of emaciated German shepherd sparks investigation into animal cruelty

When people get a pet, they take on the responsibility of taking care of that animal, including feeding them, caring for them, and giving them the love that all living things need to thrive. So, when an animal is abused, it is inexcusable.

When a dead German shepherd was found in Naperville, Illinois, police were called to investigate what had happened. Now two people are in jail, charged with animal cruelty.

The case began when police and animal control officers were called to a trail where the German shepherd’s body had been found wrapped in a bedsheet and placed in a storage container.

After investigating the case further, it was determined that the dog had belonged to Illinois couple Andre Norris and Sarah Gorski.

When the body of the German shepherd was found, it only weighed 20 pounds. Normally, an adult German shepherd weighs between 70 and 90 pounds, depending on the dog’s gender. After arriving at the couple’s home, another German shepherd/hound mix was found locked in a cage filled with feces, blood, and urine.

This dog, named Scooby, had also been starved and weighed only 20 pounds. Fortunately, Scooby was still alive, though he couldn’t walk when taken out of the cage.

Investigators were also shocked to find the body of a third dog in a nearby field that was linked to the couple. The dog, a Corgi named Bubba, only weighed four pounds and had died from starvation. A necropsies of the dead German shepherd, named Otis, showed that the dog had died from parvovirus, rat poisoning, and starvation.

The couple was charged with four felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals among other charges. Bond was set at $5,000 for Gorski and $100,000 for Norris, with a court appearance set for a later date.

“To say the charges against Sarah Gorski and Andre Norris are disturbing would be a gross understatement,” DuPage County State’s Attorney, Robert Berlin, told the Naperville Sun.
