Guy Photoshops Disney Characters Into Photos With Himself
Luigi kemo Volo (who goes by “kemo”) is a freelance illustrator and graphic designer from Naples, Italy and his Instagram page (as well as his Facebook page) are full of eye-popping drawings of cartoon characters.
But they aren’t just any cartoons – many of them are taken from Disney movies. And with the use of Photoshop, the artist manages to join his characters in the pictures.
So if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to pop into your favorite Disney movie Mary Poppins-style – or what it would be like if you met Ariel while out on a boat – be sure to take a look at 70 of his coolest creations.
1. Lady and the Tramp
In this photo, kemo is happy to be Lady in the famous spaghetti scene.
To be fair, he does have the right coloring to play her part.
2. And puppy makes three
We’re not sure which of Lady and the Tramp’s puppies that is – Annette, Collette, or Danielle – but the whole family is clearly helping with kemo’s next commission.
We just want to know if they’ve also watched Star Wars with him.
3. Flounder
We’re glad to see Flounder from The Little Mermaid is still out and about.
And it looks like he worked up enough courage to come out and say hi to his illustrator.
4. The Litte Merman
The whole crew is hanging out in style in this photo.
We still don’t know how Ariel gets her hair that perfect after so much saltwater.
5. Flotsam and Jetsam
The Little Mermaid had one of Disney’s greatest villains and her sidekicks were pretty fearsome too.
It doesn’t look like kemo’s trident is any match for Flotsam and Jetsam.
6. Poor unfortunate soul
We’re loving the detail of the smashed computer screen that makes it look like Ursula burst right out into kemo’s home.
Now if she could just update that blue eyeshadow.
7. Off the hook
Whoops! Better be careful when fishing at night or you might catch yourself a mermaid.
We thought those seashells were pretty resiliant – and so did Ariel.
8. Portrait of a mermaid
We hope Ariel’s not paying for this commission.
If you look closely at kemo’s rendering, you’ll see he’s playing quite a trick on his fishy friend by making her into her worst enemy.
9. Paint me like one of your French mermaids
Looks like things are getting risque with Ursula’s portrait.
Then again we wouldn’t want to play the same trick on her as we did on Ariel. She’s got revenge on her mind.
10. Under the sea
We promise, there are more than just Little Mermaid illustrations, but it’s clear that the artist is a big fan of these characters.
And it looks like Ursula enjoyed her portrait session.
11. On the dock
We can’t tell if they’re flirting or otherwise conversing in this picture, but it’s clear that Sebastion is the star of the show.
12. Scuttle
And who could forget Scuttle?
Just don’t ask him how to use a fork.
13. What do they call that?
Scuttle’s famous for making up ridiculous names for objects (dinglehopper, anyone?).
We wonder what he calls a camera.
14. Bear necessities
Correct us if we’re wrong, but we think that’s Baloo from The Jungle Book.
Either way, he’s looking mighty friendly.
15. Man-cub
This is definitely Baloo and it looks like he’s still taking his job of taking care of man-cubs pretty seriously.
16. Snake eyes
Kaa the snake is big and hungry and uses his eyes to hypnotize prey.
Looks like he’s still got the skills.
17. That’s what friends are for
Being buoyant is a surprisingly helpful trait for a friend.
18. I wanna be like you-ou-ou
While Rudyard Kipling’s original story doesn’t have an orangutan, we think King Louie made a great addition to The Jungle Book.
And he did get one of the best songs.
19. An apple a day
This is one witch you don’t want to share an apple with.
Luckily, kemo looks a bit suspicious.
20. Sleepy
What better dwarf to take a nap with than Sleepy?
We bet that beard is nice and warm.
21. Dopey
Dopey may not be the smartest of the 7 dwarfs, but he seems like the most fun to hang out with.
Until he pokes you in the eye, that is.
22. Geppetto
We don’t know what’s going on in Geppetto’s studio but it looks like serious work.
Maybe a new sibling for Pinocchio?
23. Ratatouille
It looks like Remy is being a little less than helpful in the kitchen.
Doesn’t he know you’re not supposed to flambe Ratatouille?
24. Jack the Pumpkin King
You might not have known that The Nightmare Before Christmas was technically a Disney movie.
Apparently Jack Skeleton was a little too off-brand for mainstream Disney, so they released it through their branch Touchstone Pictures.
25. That Cheshire cat grin
Looks like someone mischevious is hanging out in kemo’s neighborhood.
And we thought regular cats were naughty.
26. Alice in Wonderland
Looks like Alice and The Mad Hatter left Wonderland to visit Naples.
And someone seems to be taking the same liberties with the rules there too.
27. Cats will be cats
In any land, cats will want to climb on your lap when it’s least convenient.
Cheshire or not, make room for fur.
28. Off with his head
We try not to play games with The Queen of Heart and her gang.
We hear it doesn’t end well either way.
29. Feeling blue
We all feel a little inside out sometimes.
But it’s always good to have a buddy when sadness shows up at your door.
30. Enchanter of sleep
kemo is kicking it old school in this image of Merlin from the 1963 movie The Sword in the Stone.
Looks a lot more effective than an alarm clock!
31. Sleepy Simba
Well, if it’s not a wizard waking you up it’s the king of the jungle.
Looks like little Simba from The Lion King wants to play.
32. Blowout
And just like that they grow up.
Looks like King Simba is getting ready for a special event.
33. Sidekicks
And what’s a great adventure without some special sidekicks?
Timon and Pumbaa look like they love hanging out with kemo, who seems to fit right into the pack.
34. Pumbaa pow-wow
Warthogs get hungry, especially this gluttonous fella.
And it looks like he found an inconvenient snack.
35. Puppy power
Well 3 dalmations are certainly easier to handle than 101.
We’d be happy to snuggle with this cartoon bunch any day – and theoretically, you don’t have to take them out since they’re animations.
36. Cruella De Vil
They say that if she doesn’t scare you no evil thing will.
And with a coat made out of puppies (can you believe what they used to make movies about?!) she seems pretty scary to us.
37. Experiment 626
Some of kemo’s artwork are drawings that leap off the page, quite literally.
We love this animation of Stitch – getting a little dental work done?
38. Aka Stitch
What can we say? He’s just the kind of creature you want to let jump all over you.
Who wouldn’t?
39. Headgear
We’re loving this selfie-style photo because even the logo on Stitch’s Yankees hat is reversed.
kemo thought of everything.
40. Lilo joins the party
There’s nothing like watching a Hawaiian sunset with friends.
Guess they traded hats.
41. The colors of the wind
Pocahantas is going for that artificial windswept look as kemo gets caught up in her long, flowing hair.
It’s a great Photoshop job considering he even took the time to get her hair wrapped around his fingers.
42. All stuffed with fluff
There’s nothing like snuggling under the covers with a good childhood friend.
Just remember to bring the honey.
43. Under the big top
With all the circuses shutting down around the world, elephants like Dumbo now get to live life as it was intended.
But that doesn’t mean they can’t still be a little entertaining with their friends from time to time.
44. Earth to Pluto
Pluto is one of Disney’s oldest characters (made in 1930), so it’s fun to see him side-by-side on kemo’s Instagram page with newer animations.
He’s also one of the few animal characters without human characteristics (like the ability to talk), so he still likes to go for walks.
45. Do you want to build a snowman?
We’d think Olaf from Frozen would be more at home in the freezer, but he seems to be around anywhere he can make a friend.
While kemo looks a little surprised, his frozen friend is sure happy to see him.
46. Head games
That’s the creepy thing about snowmen – they come in pieces.
And apparently they can switch heads with whoever they want!
47. Monkeying around
You’ve got to watch out for Abu since he and his buddy Aladdin are used to stealing what they can’t afford (although, according to the lyrics, that’s everything).
Luckily, he only got his hands on a toothbrush this time.
48. Make a wish
We don’t know what kemo wished for, but we think the Genie might have misinterpreted.
Or maybe he’s under the orders of the Queen of Hearts.
49. Cheer up
Abu might be a little kleptomaniac, but he’s always there to cheer up a friend.
Looks like everyone could use a magic carpet ride right about now.
50. Tangled
Rapunzel’s hair really comes in handy when you need a lift (or a climb, as the case may be).
Although this princess doesn’t look like she needs any saving.
51. Come to life
Yet another of the artist’s amazing drawings that leap off the page and into real life.
Looks like kemo better watch out for that hair and its powers.
52. Little John
The ironically named Little John from Disney’s 1973 film Robin Hood looks a lot like Baloo from The Jungle Book except for his color.
We wonder if they’ve ever noticed the resemblance.
53. Tick Tock
Normally time would be running out for anyone in a crocodile’s jaws.
But in Neverland you never know what powers you might have.
54. Mr. Smee
For all his relative bumbling compared to his boss Captain Hook, Mr. Smee always had a good moral compass.
But we’d still want to look out for the destination like kemo is, just in case it’s the Jolly Roger.
55. Hooked
Apparently Captain Hook doesn’t need his boatswain – or water – to bring him his victims.
We’ve truly entered the digital age of villiany.
56. Beastly
Everybody needs a good shave now and then, but the Beast looks like one tough customer.
And let’s face it, Belle loves him anyway.
57. Holiday surprise
It looks like kemo and his friend have quite the guest list at their Christmas party.
Can you spot all the characters in this creative photo? We see at least 4, all from different films.
58. Be our guest
Lumière is always very obliging to his guests, even when they add a little fire to the mix (or, perhaps, especially!).
59. Goofing around
kemo is getting goofy in this picture with a character that everyone always wonders about.
Is Goofy a dog? (Yes.) What’s up with the gloves? (We don’t know.)
60. Fairy Godmother
Whoops! Well, either Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother only has one dress in her magical arsenal or she pointed her wand in the wrong direction.
Either way, we can’t help but smile at this fun Photoshop job.
61. A mouse in the house
Technically, there’s always a mouse in the house of Disney, but these two don’t look related to Mickey.
Jacques and Gus are Cinderella’s sidekicks and while Gus has a penchant for cheese, it looks like he enjoys a good latte as well.
62. A date with Daisy
Don’t let Donald see this photo.
It looks like Daisy Duck and kemo are having a Titanic moment.
63. Huey, Dewey, and…kemo?
Looks like kemo is taking the place of Louie as the green duck in this fun trio.
Maybe he needs a loan from Uncle Scrooge McDuck.
64. Don’t fall asleep
Possibly our favorite photo there’s no kiss of true love here to wake up Sleeping Beauty.
But she’ll get quite the surprise when she does open her eyes thanks to kemo’s prank.
65. Bambi
When you lose your mom and there’s no one to play with you, it’s good to have an artist friend who can draw you into their lives.
66. Gone fishin’
We love this living sketch from the artist – although we’re not sure what Winnie the Pooh plans on catching in that cup.
67. Friends in high places
It’s good to have friends on Mt. Olympus, especially if they’re Zeus.
We’d sure like a hot cup of the coffee of the gods right about now.
68. Fun foursome
Looks like these friends are off to the Hundred-Acre Wood for some good times.
Maybe kemo is Christopher Robin all grown up.
69. Evil birthday surprise
While Yzma the Sorceress from The Emperor’s New Groove always has some advice to give, we’re not sure that’s what anyone wants for their birthday.
Especially since it tends to be diabolical.
70. Smile pretty
And yet, even a Disney villain can occassionally make you smile.
