Artist uses items found in nature to make gorgeous sculptures unlike any you've seen before

Nature is art in itself. There is nothing more beautiful than climbing to the top of a mountain and looking up at the view, or taking a hike through the woods and being one with the trees, or going to the beach and overlooking the ocean.

Because nature is so stunning, a lot of artwork has been — and still is — inspired by it. Some artists paint beautiful landscapes of the outdoors, some create sculptures, and there are even artists who make music about it.

But this one progressive artist is doing something different from the rest… He is actually turning nature into a different kind of art by using objects that are actually from nature.

The artist’s name is James Brunt and he has an entire Facebook page dedicated to his fascinating creations.

He uses pretty much any item you can think of — shells, sticks, stones, leaves, and many other items found in the wilderness. With these things, he creates designs like spirals and circles, among other gorgeous abstract shapes.

He actually creates the art in nature too. For example, if he’s placing a ton of leaves down to create a shape, he will place it across the ground in a forest (or wherever he is outside). Since there is no way to control the outdoor elements, he will then snap a photo of the final creation so that it can live on forever. What happens to the artwork in real life after that? Well, that is up to mother nature.

When looking at some of his pieces, it is almost as if the art looks like nature itself. I mean, I guess it is since he is using all natural materials — but they almost seem to show an image if you look hard enough.

Some of these pieces are created in forests, in parks, on hiking trails, or outside of schools. If it’s outside, it is fair game!

On his Facebook page, he explained that he has a couple of rules for when he is making these pieces. He has rules set in place so that he makes sure he doesn’t disturb nature and so that he can stay true to his artistic intentions.

He explained:

β€œ1. I don’t take stones away from their habitat.

β€œ2. If working in a popular resort, that welcomes and relies on tourism, I have no issues of moving stones around on a beach. They move 2 twice a day with the tide anyway. Where possible, I collect stones from gathered piles, so not partially buried stones if I can avoid it.

β€œ3. If I plan to work on a more sensitive site, I check. For example, last week I went to Spurn Point, a nature reserve. I contacted them first to firstly see if they objected and secondly, asked about any considerations.”

All of these rules make sense and it is clear that he cares deeply about nature. It shows in both his work and his rules!
