Lawyer in a Zoom meeting accidentally turns himself into a cat with filter and hilarity ensues
If there’s one thing that the coronavirus pandemic has also forced us to do, it has been working from home. Even though circumstances aren’t always ideal, millions of people around the world are still working remotely in order to avoid contact with others as much as possible. Of course, there are positives and negatives to this working from home approach, and sometimes something absolutely hilarious can even happen.
An attorney in southwest Texas suddenly became an internet sensation after a mishap during an online Zoom meeting.
Meetings in person suddenly weren’t possible anymore, but thanks to the power of the internet, you could still communicate via video conference.
Of course, the attorney always has to talk about rather serious stuff, which makes this whole incident even more hilarious.
Judge Roy Ferguson was about to open a hearing of the 394th Judicial District Court via a virtual Zoom meeting but was definitely shocked when he saw the lawyer’s camera view.
One of the two lawyers was in the videocall, but he was a kitten!
Of course, it was an absolutely adorable and cute kitten, and it’s actually a feature that’s built-in to many video conferencing programs. In order to lighten the mood a bit, users can apply certain filters to their video view, changing their appearance. Apparently, attorney Rod Ponton still had a cat filter installed and had no idea how to turn it off.
“Mr. Ponton, I believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings,” the judge said to him.
Right away, the attorney asked his assistant to turn off the filter and restore the video to normal, but it didn’t go as smoothly as he hoped. He suggested continuing with the conference and assured everyone that he’s not actually a cat.
“I’m here live, I’m not a cat,” the man said.
“I can see that,” the judge replied with a smirk.
This lawyer was in a meeting as a kitten, and the internet absolutely loved it. It didn’t take long before the video went viral on social media, and it even made the international news!
Even the judge had something to say about the matter:
“IMPORTANT ZOOM TIP: If a child used your computer, before you join a virtual hearing, check the Zoom Video Options to be sure filters are off. This kitten just made a formal announcement on a case in the 394th,” he posted on Twitter.
Aside from the judge and the kitten, there was also another lawyer present, H. Gibbs Bauer. He decided to put on his glasses to investigate the situation better, and managed to keep a straight face as well!
Apparently, Mr. Ponton was “mortified” by the whole thing, and didn’t know the filter was installed as he used his secretary’s laptop.
Luckily, the whole meeting didn’t have to go on with the cat filter installed – all of them figured out how to get the filter disabled again. Of course, the short clip had already surfaced online and reached millions of views.
This will most definitely be hearing that everyone will remember for a very long time!
