At 9 months old, this baby is already learning to salsa dance with grandpa

Salsa dancing is becoming more and more popular outside of Latin American countries and their related diasporas. People realize it’s a great way to move your body. Even if you’re simply a novice, the music alone will make you want to move your feet, even if you never learn the more complicated footwork.

Of course, professional salsa dancers are an entirely different story. Their ability to execute steps that are an amalgamation of various cultures but rife with Latin flair make them a blast to watch (and marvel at).

Dance is also an important part of Latin culture itself, and one that’s important to pass down to little ones.

And as it turns out, we like to see people encouraging their little ones to dance no matter what their culture is.

While we don’t think the realtor that uploaded an adorable salsa video of a toddler and her grandfather had anything to do with creating it, it has been viewed over 600,000 times since she put it online in October 2014.

All we see throughout the video is an adult pair of legs and a little girl, but it’s pretty clear that she’s watching closely and trying to emulate the dance moves of her grandpa (or at least that’s how he’s identified in the video title).

And she’s simply adorable!

The video claims she’s just 9 months old, and while she looks petite, that seems pretty unlikely considering her balance and movement. Most kids aren’t sure on their feet until closer to 12 months.

Then again, the way she is watching those feet move to the music means she could just be that advanced – who knows?! That’s the problem with reposted YouTube videos after all – you never know where they came from or what the context is.

Wearing a little pink fox shirt and matching headband with socks that merely look like shoes on her feet, the tot tries to shuffle along, even moving back and forward to add some complexity.

Some adorable little shoulder movements (ones that toddlers often make while dancing) just add to her flair as she holds a piece of fruit (or some kind of snack) in a death grip with her right hand.

Hey, eating and dancing makes you at least a double threat when you’re 9 months old, right?

While Latin music plays in the background, the duo dance all over the floor. We don’t know if those are official moves, but this isn’t a dance lesson anyway, just two family members having some fun.

Even the family dog in the background wants to join in! He or she looks really sad to be missing out when they could be jumping around in the middle of everything.

As this little sweetie gets a solo, she grins at the camera and looks like she’s trying to remember what she just learned.

But she needs grandpa for guidance, so she heads back for more dancing.

We have to admit, watching people dance always makes us want to get up on our feet and move. It’s a good thing there are so many instructional videos on YouTube to learn just about any dance you want.

Hey, if a 9-month-old can get her groove on, maybe the rest of us can too! You don’t need a big space, just some music and a good attitude!
