Adorable baby baby bunnies believe this kind golden retriever is their dad
Many dogs love to chase other animals, especially rabbits and squirrels. If you are lucky enough, though, your dog might get along with other pets in your home. Take Bailey, for example, a friendly golden retriever who has become a sort of surrogate father to a group of baby bunnies introduced to his home.
Their interactions are adorable!
A group of cute bunnies adopt Bailey as a father
In a video posted online, a group of baby bunnies is introduced to the friendly dog. At just 22 days old, the bunnies are simply adorable, and Bailey seems to think so too.
The bunnies quickly took a shine to Bailey, never seeming to fear him. According to Bailey’s owner, the bunnies have adopted Bailey as their dad.
Bailey accepts the bunnies as his own
Watching the video, you can see how the bunnies seem to scooch closer to Bailey, seeking the warmth of his fur. Bailey didn’t seem to mind either, as he just lays there as the bunnies hop all around him. It is nice to see two different types of animals accepting each other so well.
Social creatures by nature, dogs are known for their tendency to make friends with both humans and other animals. Given the right circumstances, a dog will befriend just about any animals around, though they do prefer other dogs. In essence, it is a part of their pack mentality that allows a dog to befriend others so easily.
With an emotional capacity similar to that of a two-year-old human child, dogs have a basic level of empathy and tend to be supportive of other animals. In the case of Baily and the bunnies, he was able to pick up on the fact that they were without a parental figure and was willing to fill that role for them.
One big, happy family
While the rabbits were relaxing next to Bailey, another family pet decided to join them. A little bird, named Sky, decided to fly down onto the bed where Bailey and the bunnies were hanging out.
The bunnies were perfectly fine with the bird’s presence, continuing to hop all over the bed.
The video of Bailey and the bunnies goes viral
After posting the video on Bailey’s YouTube channel, it ended up getting over 7.5 million views and has been liked over 222,000 times. The feedback on the video was very positive, with many viewers sharing their thoughts on what exactly what was going through Bailey’s mind as the bunnies hopped around him.
