Tiny toddler befriends a deer and gets much more than he bargained for

Deer can be found in so many different areas, including urban settings, as humans push ever further into their habitat. This occasionally leads to human-to-deer contact. While, deer, for the most part, tend to avoid this contact, in some instances they almost seem to seek it out.

That is what happened in a video after a little boy came across a baby deer in his back yard.

In a video of the meeting between the two, the deer approaches the boy as he is retrieving a watering can to help his parents with some gardening. Intrigued by the tiny human, the deer insists on licking the boy’s ears. Of course, the boy is surprised by the deer’s bold move and eyes the animal suspiciously.

Momentarily foiled in his attempt to grab the watering can, the boy approaches it again. And, of course, the deer is there waiting for him to give him a couple of licks once again. The little boy reaches out to stop the deer from licking him, but the deer is bound and determined to lick his favorite human.

As he is repelled once again, the boy extends his arm and gives a big, “Whoa.” Too bad the deer wants to play so much. All the boy wants to do is help his parents, so he keeps trying to grab the watering can.

An unknown ending

It looks like the boy almost has the can, but the deer’s persistence sends him scrambling quickly back. Will the boy be able to finally get a hold of the watering can?

It seems we will never know, as the video ends before he can succeed at his mission.

Surprising interaction

The video was a hit with viewers on YouTube, getting over 1 million views. The video shows how gentle the doe was with the child. The doe seemed to just want to introduce herself.

Hopefully, their interaction is the start of a beautiful friendship. But hopefully, the little boy will get to help his parents in the garden next time around!

Deer in the wild

And while deer are usually only found in the wild and are sometimes killed when they get too close to roadways, gardens, and human homes, this one at least has proven that she is willing to extend an olive branch of peace to humankind, even if her chosen subject is not so quick to get along.

You can watch their adorable exchange in the video below.
