Daddy can’t stop laughing at baby’s word for "ice cream"

Babies don’t always do things that make sense… If you are a parent, you totally get it. You can layout a map and give them all the tools they need to do something and they still might not get it. Why does this happen? Who knows! Because, as we said, babies don’t always make that much sense.

One major part of a child’s growth process is, of course, learning how to speak and understand words!

It is always fun to discover what their first word will be and even after that, they will probably manage to keep you on your toes.

There is nothing more satisfying than saying a word like “mommy” or “daddy” to a baby and hearing them say it back correctly.

This father was enjoying a nice casual session of talking with his baby, Delta, when he realized there was just not a word she could not grasp. You’re probably thinking, “Oh, maybe it was a hard word or something,” but we wouldn’t say that was the case.

It was actually a simple word that most people would grasp quickly: Ice cream. (Okay, so technically two words). And luckily, the father managed to flip the camera on his sweet daughter and catch most of the hilarious exchange on video.

The clip starts out promising. Delta is able to say “I love,” with little to no issues. Seems good! But then when her father throws what seems to be a major curveball, “ice cream,” at her, she just cannot register it.

What makes this even more bizarre is the world she would spit out instead of ice cream: Camtono. What does that mean?!

It really messes with your mind because, well, “camtono” sounds nothing like “ice cream.” How she manages to go from one word to one completely different sounding word is completely beyond us but one this is for sure — it is absolutely adorable.

Her father seems to think so, too. Every time she screams out, “camtono,” he laughs and sounds confused. Then he tries to test it out and see if she has the same problem with other words.

“I want…” the baby says. Good! But then when he tries to finish the sentence with “ice cream,” nope. The baby does not want ice cream… She wants camtono.

Other words seem to register just fine — “Delta” (her name), “eat,” “dadda,” “momma.” Heck, she can even say “ice” and “cream” perfectly fine as two separate words, so what the heck is happening when her brain tries to tie the two together?!

Eventually, Delta grows tired of this game and begs her father for a hug. He continues to throw words at her and she just responds with “no,” to all of them with much sass. But even towards the end when she is in the middle of reaching for a hug, she manages to scream out “camtono” again.

It is clear that Delta knows something we don’t. Apparently, camtono is very important — much more important than ice cream.
