People are transforming their backyard sheds into cozy wine shacks
The one thing that we have definitely learned over the span of the last year was how to spend quality time at home alone/or along with our families.
With COVID-19 still on the loose and the new mutations on the rise, we never really know when we will be “requested” to stay at home again for a longer period of time. So, what better way to spend your time in confinement than the initiation of a “Happy Hour” for you and your tired another half!

While some people took up new hobbies such as knitting, painting, or baking, others decided to redo their backyards. And, there isn’t anything more appealing than having your own private wine shack!

Many families took it upon themselves to transform their backyards into something totally new and fresh while adding a wine shack in the mix. The rules of social distancing might dictate to temporarily stop spending time with friends at bars, enjoying a drink after a long day at work, but with your own modern home-bar, you can still keep the illusion of normality!

So, where is the best place to have these wine-shacks? Well, at your yard sheds, of course! If you have an old shed just collecting dust somewhere in your backyard, what a better way to take advantage of its storing space, if you can spare it of course, rather than making it into something useful like a wine shack.

One of the best parts of this venture is that you can actually try and design it by yourself, browse online the type of wine shack you would prefer to have, and just do it! There are literally so many options for you to choose from, from the traditional Irish Pubs to the posh and more formal New York bars.

You can “play” and be creative with the aesthetics of your bar, however, if you decide to store your wine there, you would need to create the necessary maintenance – environment. It is broadly known among wine lovers that wine storages/ cellars require particular temperature conditions to keep the wine fresh.

Therefore, you will probably need to buy and install high-quality insulation, a vapor barrier, and a temperature control system. The wine should be kept at around 55°F (13C) and the humidity in the room should be about 50%-70%. Also, the wine is UV-sensitive, so make sure that the wine is stored in an area where natural light/ sun cannot reach it.

Don’t forget to make sure that your home-bar is properly protected with locks or even an alarm, especially if you are thinking of keeping your expensive bottles. There are people who love having at home a good and aged whisky that might cost more than a month’s salary!

In the end, whichever project you decide to go with, keep in mind that it should be a place where you are supposed to relax and disconnect from your “routines”, so no work should be allowed in the area.
