Group of bagpipe players forms a circle by the forest for an enchanting cover of “Fight Song”
Music has the ability to lend itself to different cultures and perspectives. It allows people to have their own takes, versions, or covers of a single work. These different backgrounds influence and bring the music further and closer to various people. This cover of “Fight Song” is a perfect example of that.
The hugely successful song was originally written by Rachel Platten.

Rachel Platten released the song in 2015. Since then it has become a huge success, reaching number 6 on the Billboard Top 100 and number 1 on Adult Contemporary music. Millions of people around the world have heard the song and loved it.
“‘Fight Song’ was inspired by a lot of experiences that were hurting me and that were making me feel like maybe I didn’t have a chance in this industry. I wrote it because I needed to remind myself that I believed in myself. No matter what, I still was gonna make music, even if it was on a small scale. Even if it was just for me.” [Wikipedia]
Many have taken the song as a personal motto.
The song’s powerful lyrics and strong sound make it inspiring and wonderful to hear. A popular song like this cannot go unnoticed. It is no wonder that The Piano Guys decided to cover it!
The Piano Guys are a viral group of musicians that perform songs and covers on YouTube and on stage.

They called it a “Scottish” version.
There are no lyrics to this cover, but they added their own spin to make it uniquely Scottish. The video captures the powerful energy of the song with some bagpipes, aerial scenic shots of Scotland, and some well placed “HUA’s” from some Scotlanders.
Opening up with stunning landscape views, The Piano Guys start their song with snare drums and bagpipes.
Soon, the snares are backed by keys and the song takes off in the familiar melody of Rachel Platten’s hit. Using keys, a cello, and a host of other instruments, the spirit of the song can’t help but inspire and lift the spirit.
After a few of the verses and the chorus, the skills of the pianist and cellist shows through.
Fluttering through the notes, it is almost as if there are little butterflies floating through each piece of the melody. After the bridge of the song sweeps in, everything gets quiet for a moment – suddenly, the chorus sweeps in again and makes you want to leap from your chair with passion and joy!
It’s a message of inspiration to the world and The Piano Guys want to share it across.
Knowing that there is purpose in struggle, the group released their cover with a deep understanding of its message.
When we first heard Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” we were inspired by its message. In a world where we too often talk about our differences, we have at least one thing in common. We all struggle. Not in the same way, nor at the same level, but we all want a fighting chance. And we all share in one gift: The will to make the most of our lives. To take what we’ve been given and turn it into something better could be considered the sentient measuring stick of success. But to do so seldom is simple and more often requires we fight. Not against each other. But against the current threatening to drown the ambition in us.
