Icon after icon, the industry as we know it today was shaped by the decades before them – the 80s especially.

If you grew up before, during, and after that decade, we bet there were a lot of hits you’re familiar with.

One classic hit we all loved back then (and still do now!) is Footloose.

This popular Kenny Loggins song was written for the movie of the same title.

The film starring Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer, is about a teenager from Chicago who moved to a small town and hoped to overturn an antiquated ruling to ban dancing.

Regardless of whether you remember the entire story, we’ll never forget all the dance moves and songs.

That’s what makes Footloose such a good pick for a song-dance performance.

The beat will keep you on your feet, and it’s a song full of possibilities when it comes to singing in harmonies. Plus, the nostalgia factor, too!

No wonder this A Capella barbershop group used this classic piece in one of their competitions.

The Kentucky Vocal Union is a barbershop chorus based in Louisville, Kentucky.

Their members are from Kentucky and the surrounding states, and their performances have always been entertaining.

They represented the Cardinal District on numerous instances, especially in Barbershop Harmony Society International.

Their performance of Kenny Loggins’s ‘Footloose’ was breathtaking.

Staying true to the movie’s story, the group was like Ren and his friends hanging out, but the police were heading their way.

The panic, the chaos, and then they broke out into a song. The first few harmonies could tell you this one will be good.

Some members were taking turns being the main vocals, and all of them were on point.

They didn’t dance that much at this point just yet, as they were building up the momentum in their number.

The fun was about to start as the main vocal buttoned down his shirt, revealing a plain white shirt.

This is also a nod to Kevin Bacon’s look in most scenes in the movie.

When they hit the chorus, that’s when they cut loose.

Each member slowly took off their polo shirt, revealing varied colors of inner tees.

They were in colorful neon that captured the discotheque vibe of the teenagers in their high school prom.

The group danced some familiar 80s choreography that would entice you to groove with them.

All that lively dancing contrasted with how they arranged the song with their harmonies.

You can hear the highs and lows of the tenor and bass, but it all flows together beautifully.

It’s like listening to church choirs but with the pizzazz of theater.

You couldn’t help but smile at how their voices powered this classic with much gusto.

They ended the song with a powerful note, and the crowd loved it.

The Kentucky Vocal Union placed third in that competition in Portland, Oregon.

This shows not only their talent and skill but also their camaraderie and teamwork to pull off such a great number.
