Society judges women constantly. They’re either too this or too that.

Men can get away with being how they want to be, while women are expected to aspire to unrealistic standards. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Romy Mimus has given the world a glimpse of how society should respect women. After all, like Mimus, most women keep on working through pregnancy and get back to work just after giving birth.

Mimus is a multi-award winning belly dancer. She has made a career out of performing her art for the world. But as with most dancers, she has to discipline her body. So when she got pregnant, she was initially a little worried that it could impact her career. But then she decided to embrace the changes that her body would make.

Mimus kept on performing throughout her pregnancy. In fact, just one day before her birth, she recorded an amazing routine. And it has to be seen.

The video opened with Mimus standing in the middle of a stage, wearing a beautiful belly dancing outfit.

Being nine months pregnant, her baby bump was on full display. And why not? Pregnancy is 100% necessary for humanity to exist, and yet we try to shun its visibility. Mimus was showing just how great pregnancy looks.

When the Middle Eastern music kicked in, Mimus started shaking a cloth back and forth and moving her hips to the music.

Then she started spinning around really fast, moving across the stage with so much grace.

At the one minute mark, Mimus dropped the cloth and waved her hands in the air, perfectly synchronizing them to the music.

For the rest of the performance, Mimus made the stage her own. Her body may have changed over nine months of pregnancy, but her talent had not.

Just after recording the video, she uploaded it to her YouTube channel, where it soon went viral.

To date, it has gained over 13 million views. It also has over 34,000 likes and 5,400 comments. People have been saying things like this:

Some people may disapprove of a pregnant woman performing a belly dance, or even just belly dancing in general. But why? Mimus performed no moves that could put her baby at risk. And belly dancing is a difficult form of dance that requires thousands upon thousands of hours of practice.

If you think belly dancing is inappropriate for a pregnant woman to perform, then too bad. It’s a form of artistic expression like any other type of dance. And there’s no reason for Mimus to stop performing the dance style she loves.

The day after recording that video, Mimus went into labor. The delivery went well, and she took a little time off before getting back to her career.

Mimus currently tours the entire world as part of the dance company Bellydance Superstars. She also teaches belly dancing at every level.

And if there’s one thing that Mimus’s pregnancy video proves, it’s that she’ll keep on dancing no matter what. She really is an inspiration for everyone.
