Besties finally find their forever family after spending 346 days in a shelter
Can you imagine a life without your best friend?
We, humans, need others to survive—the thought of someone being there for us no matter what is quite comforting.
Having a friend, who may be a family member or not, is a blessing that not all of us are lucky enough to have.
While finding a best friend in this world can be a feat for humans, having a friend for keeps does not seem to be very challenging for dogs.
A pair of canines is proof that dogs are capable of finding their besties, too.
Finn and Fiona have been with each other since they were puppies.
The two dogs are pit bull terriers and they are simply inseparable.
At a very young age, these dogs have already been taken to a shelter where they found each other and became the best of friends.
The two dogs are considered to be senior dogs, given that they are now 9 years old.
The Bangor Humane Society, an organization dedicated to saving pups, decided they were too close and didn’t want them to be adopted separately.
“They are a bonded pair, both 9 years old, patiently waiting for their fur-ever home. They must go together and aren’t really looking to make new dog friends in their senior years, so a home with no other dogs is a must,” Bangor Humane Society wrote in their Facebook post.
“They’ll do fine around dog-savvy cats and around children 16 and up. They also need to be fed separately because Fiona will help herself to Finn’s portion if given the opportunity.”
The organization finally opted to have them adopted at the same time.
If putting up one dog for adoption is already a challenge, then having two of them together is something close to impossible.
Well, that was the case at first but the organization stayed by its decision.
Finn and Fiona stayed together at the shelter, waiting patiently for someone to accept them as a package and bring them to their forever home.
Days passed and the doggie best friends were waiting patiently for someone to arrive.
300 days passed and no one came to adopt them.
After about 10 months, the pair of pit full terriers were still not adopted. Would they ever meet the one who will accept them together?
The pair was close to celebrating their first anniversary in the shelter.
While waiting for their future owner, the two of them had so much fun playing together at the shelter.
There were actually people who are interested in adopting them separately, but the organization was serious about getting them adopted together.
Being away from each other would surely break the dogs’ hearts and it would make them sad to see the dogs suffer.
346 days passed since they entered the shelter.
With only a few days remaining before their first anniversary in the shelter, the best news suddenly arrived for the cute pups.
A couple decided to adopt the dogs together!
The Bangor Humane Society is delighted and announced the great news on their TikTok account which got everyone on TikTok stoked because of the incredible development in the lives of Finn and Fiona.
Wow! We are so happy for these lovely “besties”, too!
