Besties for nearly 80 years end up move into same nursing home and are living out best years

Real-life ‘golden girls’ are laughing their way through life.

Best friends are like the frosting on the cake of life. Guaranteed to make life interesting, sweet, and memorable. For some, best friends show up very early in life, and for others, they come along later when life gets more complicated. No matter when that magical bond starts to form, there is no doubt that it makes a part of our soul complete.

A friendship 78 years in the making.

Kathleen Saville and Olive Woodward’s friendship has stood the test of time. Although most friendships tend to wane over the years, these two besties haven’t missed a moment of each other’s ups and downs. Now at 89-years-old, they are continuing to share happy moments living in the very same care home in England.

Life is better with a friend.

Kathleen and Olive met when they were only 11-years-old in 1941 and have never looked back. Sally Tebbett, the care home manager at Berry Hill Park, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Tebbett said that the ladies are “full of mischief’ and the sparkle is still there.

“We knew we would always be best friends when we met. She means a lot to me,” Kathleen told the BBC

A friendship full of laughter.

The forever friends lean on each other for support and companionship. “If I’m unhappy or in trouble, I only have to go to Kathleen and we’ll always end up laughing,” Woodward told the BBC. This is truly the secret to any good relationship. No matter what things happen in life we all need to be able to laugh and find the positive.

Their lives have always been intertwined.

Throughout their lives, the two ladies seemed to have always had things in common. They were obviously destined to be close. They never lived more than 10 minutes apart in their younger years. Remarkably, Olive and Kathleen went to the same school and both married coal miners.

Spending quality time together.

What better way to spend their golden years than together. After Kathleen moved to the Berry Hill Care Home, Olive decided to follow. It made sense for the two to be near each other and they couldn’t be happier. Now they are able to see each other all the time and reminisce about their younger years and the full life they have lived. However, the good days aren’t over and there are still adventures to be had.

The Dynamic Duo.

After the ladies entered the care home, they were given a very appropriate nickname. Nurses called them the “dynamic duo.” They also plan on being best friends in heaven. “If Olive goes first, she’ll come back to fetch me,” Kathleen told the BBC “We’re going to be best friends in heaven.”

Best friends Olive and Kathleen, who met nearly 80 years ago, have now moved into the same care home in Mansfield….
