Betty White is honored after hometown announces Betty White Day
We were all waiting for Betty White to turn 100. Up until the news of her death was announced, shocking and stopping the entire world in its tracks. The beloved comedian, an icon in her own right, left us unexpectedly.
No one knew that 2021 was the very last time we would all have Betty White. People from all over the world, celebrities, and even the president all took time to reflect on the legacy of White.
2022 began with a new report that White’s hometown will celebrate and honor her birthday as, “Betty White Day”!

Born in the Village of Oak Park, Illinois, Betty White and her parents soon moved to California when she was a baby. Oak Park is set to honor their own with, “Betty White Day” as an official holiday in the area.
Oak Park president Vicki Scaman says she will read the official proclamation just a few days before White’s 100th birthday. Scaman will read the proclamation during a “memorial for community members in Oak Park.”
Few details have been revealed but reports say that Oak Park’s small business community will be offering discounts plus specially themed products modeled after Betty White and her life.
A local restaurant called Mickey’s will be serving Betty White themed items from the menu.
A bakery named “Turano” have plans of baking a huge cake in honor of Betty White while other local artists are working on cutouts of Betty. Artists’ works will be displayed around the downtown area.
Artists have a mural competition as well, allowing them to showcase their creative talents in honor of the late Betty White. The winner will go on to create a whole Betty White portrait somewhere downtown.
The inaugural “Betty White Day” will fall on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
And in other related news, Senator Don Harmon, D-Oak Park, filed a resolution to make Jan. 17, 2022 “Betty White Day” in Illinois. The Illinois Senate adopted the resolution on the same day of filing.
“RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL 16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare January 17, 2022 as “Betty White Day” in the State of Illinois to commemorate the deeply devoted, artistic, visionary, and philanthropic spirit of Betty White; and be it further RESOLVED, That we mourn the passing of Betty White and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, many coworkers, and all who knew and loved her.”

Fans of Betty White and travelers who need a break can make their way to her hometown and have a great time.
White’s legacy lives on with millions of fans. All her sitcoms and films are with us to remember the wonderful lady who brought smiles to a world that desperately needed it.
When her husband, Allen Ludden, pased away in 1981, she never remarried, saying,”Once you’ve had the best, who needs the rest?”
And for all of us, Betty White was absolutely the best among the rest.
