Betty White’s delivery on ‘census-taking’ SNL skit will always be comedy gold

All of us have had “that” experience with an old person.

One moment, we’re talking and chilling, then out of the blue they blurt out the darndest things, like a five-year-old at the peak of a sugar rush.

Senile, deaf, or just straight out weird with age, we blame all kinds of age-related changes.

And Betty White portrayed this perfectly on SNL.

It’s one of SNL’s funniest skits.

Betty White hosted the skit perfectly.

The late actress who died at 99, was one of the biggest names in comedy.

In the skit, she was partnered with writer and comedian Tina Fey who played the role of a census recorder.

Someone who knocks at the door of everyone, and we mean every single person, can be such a pain.

It’s just going to be average people and total weirdos – nothing in between. And that’s where White comes in.

White played the role perfectly.

What started out as a simple census task, turned into a nightmare for a public worker who knocked on Betty’s (a seemingly ordinary person) door.

White answered the census taker’s questions with mundane answers, only to quickly pivot into bizarre and disturbing responses.

It was a situation that just snowballed into a perfect disaster and we can’t help but laugh at the actresses’ deliveries, especially White’s.

White’s career started in the 1940s.

She was well known for her whip-like wit and impeccable delivery of unapologetically “in-your-face” kind of humor that will make you scream with laughter.

Her roles earned her Emmy nominations and led to new roles. She appeared in That 70’s Show and Boston Legal, among others.

Her recent success began with a Super Bowl Commercial.

She was tackled in a recreational match and started trash-talking her teammates.

A Facebook campaign was launched by her fans, asking SNL to take her in as the show’s celebrity host.

She was the perfect pick.

“‘Listen, I’m 91 years old … I’ve been around the block, okay. I’ve seen a lot of things and done one or two and I know a few things. Not much, but some,” she said in one interview. “I just want to say to all the judgemental people out there: If two people in love want to get married, let ’em get married!”
