Giant 130-pound dog steps inside his first home ever

Cosmo may be big in size, but he’s been missing out on a lot of the big things that are important in a dog’s life.

This massive St. Bernard has never zoomed up and down a flight of stairs, he doesn’t understand what treats are, and he’s never been inside an actual house before.

Thankfully, all of that is about to change for this larger-than-life good boy!

Less than 24 hours after he was adopted, Cosmo made himself right at home.

It didn’t take long before he was drinking water out of the toilet and squeezing himself into the tiniest of human couches for a lazy afternoon nap.

Life as he knew it was suddenly grand.

Of course, it wasn’t always this way. It’s hard to imagine that just 48 earlier, a woman named Jayne had fallen in love with pictures of him that were posted to Hearts United for Animals website.

So, she did what anyone who is madly in love would do – she dropped everything to fly to Nebraska and meet her gorgeous puppy crush IRL.

At first, Cosmo didn’t know who the heck this woman was, but since she came bearing a plushie toy and friendly smile, it was all good.

Even though it was a happy moment, watching the two of them cuddle in the grass was somewhat bittersweet for the shelter’s manager, Kristy, who got teary-eyed and was already missing Cosmo before he was even gone.

However, she understood the greater impact that Jayne and her family would have on improving his life.

“There’s a human here who wants to give him love and he’s pretty happy about it.”

Jayne spent some time getting to know Cosmo before driving the 130-pound dog to his new forever home in upstate New York, but that was just a formality. She had already made the decision to adopt the pooch long before she arrived.

The next morning, Cosmo was terrified of getting into the car.

As you can imagine, traveling thousands of miles by car with a St. Bernard isn’t easy. But, Jayne made the ride as safe and comfortable as she possibly could for the big, handsome boy.

“My hope for Cosmo is that he gets the opposite of what he had, being part of a family.”

Now that Cosmo is settled into his new digs, he gets to discover things he never even knew existed – like happy kids!

Not only are they metaphorically on his level – where they’re just as excited as he is about exploring the good life – but they’re also physically with him, too, right there at ground level.

Jayne’s children have no qualms about plopping themselves onto the floor to play with their furry BFF.

Cosmo also has some new animal companions to keep him company as well.

Not only does he have two other pups to play with, but there’s also a giant rabbit hopping around.

The big bunny is kind of like the St. Bernard of the rabbit world, so the two already have something in common.
