Bing Crosby and Davie Bowie pair up to make Christmas history with duet
A Blast From The Past
It is not uncommon when Christmas rolls around that many people reflect on the past with a focus being on the blessings that their friends and family have brought them. Also, this includes the many joys in life they have experienced. Part of those memories also includes famous artists like Bing Crosby and David Bowie who would always make the Christmas seasons extra special by sharing their musical talents.
Bing Crosby and David Bowie Made An Exceptional Team
Back in 1977 these two great vocalists Bing Crosby and David Bowie teamed up together to create a wonderful Christmas video. Unfortunately, Bing passed away before it aired. It did present itself on YouTube in 2012 and today has collected 4,164,795 views.
The song showcased by these two was the “Little Drummer Boy” and for the differences in age, the performance was flawless. But there was more to be enjoyed by this performance.
The Duo
This is one of those rare moments where the youth could sit down and enjoy a performance that included a favorite from the past. Although they may know no more about Bing Crosby other than he was a favorite performer in years past, they can gain a new appreciation for him. Although aged there was not a crack in his voice or one-note missed. If one were to close their eyes they would think that they were listening to Bing in his prime.
As far as David goes there would be no expectation that he would perform any less than perfection. He had the ability to take any song whether it is Christmas or not and turn it into something special.
An Enjoyable Parody
Will Ferrell and John C. Riley did a parody of this that pays homage to both David Bowie and Bing Crosby. This is labeled on YouTube for 2010. Will took on the part of David while John portrayed Bing. It too was a most enjoyable performance and both of these are well worth watching.
The Young And The Old
At the time of the making of this video, David was much younger than Bing. The plot of the video was based on David not knowing who Bing was. Bing in his humble manner which was true to his personality did not flaunt his notoriety and only introduced himself as Bing.
What stands out here is the youth that David is depicting and the age that Bing possesses. It truly shows how the young and old can be brought together to create a magical moment. This is something that could be well-practiced between the youth and the elderly of today. One never knows what may come about as a result of it.
The Biggest Hit Song of Bing’s career was his rendering of White Christmas composed by Irving Berlin. This is the song that takes so many back down memory lane.
David Bowie made just as much of a mark in the music industry and has created many memories for his fans in his era.
While both of these great artists have passed away they have left the world a great gift that will continue to keep on giving. It would be nice to see some of the younger performers of today team of with some of those from days gone by. It would create a whole new set of memories for fans of them both.
