Owners dump gorgeous German Shepherd on the side of the road with his kennel and never look back

When you welcome a pet into the house for the first time, daily life as you know it really turns around. After all, you can always expect to greeted with hugs and cuddles if there’s a dog waiting for you at home, and pets just have the tendency to make one smile a lot more often. However, it’s also a pretty big responsibility and even a lifelong commitment for the owners of a pet to take care of them.

Going on walks, making sure they’re healthy, giving them food and water – and of course, we can’t forget that they also need a fair dose of some tender loving care.

However, there are still too many people out there who have no idea what the word responsibility means, and simply just abandon their helpless pet in the middle of nowhere.

This absolutely beautiful black German Shepherd was actually found on the side of the road next to his small kennel, with not a mommy or an owner in sight.

He must’ve been left behind by his previous owners, who seemingly decided that it was best to just abandon him instead of bringing him to friends, family, or a shelter. These pet owners clearly weren’t capable of taking care of him.

They simply ditched the four-footer in the middle of nowhere, on a very calm road where people barely passed by.

Luckily, the shepherd was microchipped and still had his collar on and someone was able to find him.

Richard Jordan was simply driving on the lonely road in Louisiana, and didn’t even spot the dog at first. He saw the kennel and immediately got a bit wary that something wasn’t right. It’s a good thing that Richard actually got out of his car to check it out, because the German Shephard was actually hiding in the back of the kennel, presumably terrified of the passing cars.

The poor pooch also had no idea where he was and was probably still anxiously waiting until his owners returned to get him.

It’s actually not always recommended to approach stray dogs, especially if they’re of a breed that could potentially hurt you, such as this shepherd. A lot of their personality is determined by their past – dogs tend to get overly aggressive against humans if they were previously abused.

Richard had immediately sensed that the poor dog was very scared, so he made sure to approach his crate very slowly once he spotted him. According to the man, the four-footer acted fairly “skitted” and definitely wasn’t keen on getting out of the kennel. However, the kind man and animal lover wanted to see the dog safe and sound, so he wasn’t just about to give up.

While Richard was waiting for the local animal services, the man did his best to try and get the dog to trust him.

It was only now that he noticed that the dog actually had a collar with the name “Borel.” It appears like his owners did some effort to care for him, and the man was just flabbergasted that they’d just abandon him on the side of the road. He wanted some answers and posted pictures on his Facebook account in the hope that someone would know Borel.

At one point, he suspected that Borel’s owners had a case of ‘fad breeding’, which occurs when someone takes in a particular dog breed but then changes their mind soon thereafter because it’s not really what they expected.

“It was well known these dogs are too much for the average person,” the man posted. “Well, this scared dog in the woods today … fell victim to this. This is the end result of fad buying.”

When the animal services arrived, they were able to scan the microchip.

It turns out that Borel was chipped by a breeder from Dallas, and it’s still unclear why or how this beautiful German Shepherd ended up on the side of the road.

However, the most important part of the story is the ending. After he was taken in by the animal organization, there were plenty of people who showed interest to adopt him. In other words, Borel’s forever loving home isn’t far away!
