This bird is 10.5 centimeters or four inches small and 4-9 grams or about 0.14-0.317 ounces light. It’s a tiny thing and it’s absolutely beautiful.

The Black-Throated Tit is considered a “passerine”, just like most birds. In simpler language, this little bird is what we usually refer to as a songbird. Their mix of colors is unique and pretty, and we’re certain that their fluffy feathers will surely make you want to take them as a pet!

Tiny as it may be, the beauty of this little passerine is nothing but small. The bold color patterns of its feathers are easily recognizable, especially the splash of black around its throat. The plumage varies depending on the bird’s specific race.

The Black-Throated Tit has a medium-length tail and a “black bandit mask” around its eyes. The nominate race has a chestnut cap, breast band and flanks and dark grey back, wings and tail, and a white belly.

This bird can be found living in groups from the foothills of the Himalayas, stretching across northern India through north-eastern Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, northern Myanmar, Vietnam, and Taiwan. This bird’s species also have habitat in southern Vietnam, the island of Hainan, and further north in China up to the Yellow River. It prefers to live in open forests generally occurring in middle altitudes.

The Black-Throated Tit is a highly social bird species and usually travel in a flock of up to 40 birds. It forages acrobatically in small branches. Sometimes, it hovers at the tips of the tree branches to extract its food which is normally seeds and tiny insects.

Because of its tiny size, it is often difficult to spot in dense trees. But, its presence is given away because of its high-pitched contact calls and thin, rolling trills.

The photos that were taken by wildlife photographer Chen Chengguang definitely captured the amazing beauty of this bird. We can totally understand why he would want to stay in the wild and follow this bird around just to get a really great shot.

This photo of the bird as it sits among the flowers is the cutest thing ever!
