Babies are wonderful blessings. Most parents get so emotional seeing their babies for the first time.

Stacy and Babajide of Lagos surely felt the same thing.

The only difference is they got a bit surprised upon seeing their newborn babies. The couple was blessed with a daughter and when they found out that they were expecting twin sons, they couldn’t wait to see them.

Stacy had to undergo a cesarean section and gladly, everything went well.

“It was a massive surprise.”

This is how Stacy described what she felt when she saw her twins for the very first time. The two baby boys were born just minutes apart but there was really surprising about them.

They are not identical.

Their looks are entirely different. Daniel has dark skin as well as black curly hair. He looks just like his older sister who is Demilade. Strangely, David has while skin and golden curls. This is despite the fact that neither parent is white.

“We did not know about their differences while I was pregnant. The scan did not show such, so it was a huge surprise and the most amazing moment when the first twin (Daniel) came out with black hair and the second twin (David) came out with gold hair. I had them through CS, so the doctors were like, ‘It seems you are having totally unidentical twins.’ Before I knew it, nurses started coming out to look at them.”

Though Stacy was stunned, her happiness was still overflowing. It was also the same for his husband.

“Their dad was really overwhelmed and immediately named My Twin 2 (David) ‘Golden,’ so he fondly calls him Mr. Golden. He was all overjoyed seeing his boys. He stood for more than 10 minutes staring at them and said he was just looking at God’s wonderful work and that they are his best gift ever.”

The reason behind these twins’ differences.

David has albinism. This genetic condition decreases the amount of melanin – the pigment formed in the skin, hair, and eyes. It can affect anyone regardless of gender and race.

According to the National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation, there is “approximately one in 18,000 to 20,000 people has some type of albinism” in the US. For David’s condition, it is oculocutaneous albinism. This the reason behind his golden curls and light skin.

The couple, as well as their daughter, embraced the differences of David and Daniel.

Stacy even shared how they deal with it.

“There’re always side talks whenever we go out, people often wanna know how and what’s happening and maybe due to their cute and adorable nature, you just wanna come close to say hello.”

For them, the twins are blessing from above. They bring joy to the whole family. The mother even created an Instagram account that shows glimpses of the twins’ lives. She also wants to spread awareness about albinism.

They are adorable in all of their photos and they also bring happiness to their 25,000 followers.

“We opened an account for them because we believe they have a story to tell to the world and also as a way of creating awareness.”

When it comes to their attitude, they also have differences. David is a bit quiet while Daniel is more expressive. Nevertheless, they are equally loveable and cute.

“They are so adorable and it felt like we had been given a miracle.”

For Stacy, his sons’ skin colors would never be an issue. She loves them equally with all her heart.

“It doesn’t matter to me what color their skin is because they are my babies. All that matters is that I have my boys.”
