Blacknose sheep look likes stuffed animals and they make wonderful pets
There are plenty of unique animals that become pets for some people (looking at you, Joe Exotic). Instead of looking for a dangerous and unique animal like many do, look at this rare breed of sheep! Known as the Valias Blacknose Sheep, these incredible guys make perfect pets!
From the Valais region in Switzerland, these sheep are unique in many ways!
These animals were bred in the 15th century and were only recently acknowledged as a unique breed in the 1960’s! They get their distinctive look from their black faces and ears, although they have black markings on their feet, hocks, and knees!
The breed is also known by its horns!
Looking almost like a Satyr, these sheep have incredible horns. The boney protrusions extend out from the head near the ears and have a swirl to them! They look like a sideways ice-cream cone that someone glued to sheeps head!
These sheep were bred for a dual purpose.
As part of the agricultural industry, these sheep were bred with the intent of meat and wool. Apart from their “utility” however, is a special feature!
They are friendly!
The breed is incredibly friendly and are fascinated with humans. As a result, humans love them too! They are goofy little guys who are sure to make you laugh.
Looking at some of their pictures is a guaranteed chuckle.
With some of them having curly bangs hanging in their faces, they almost look like teenagers who are going through a rebellious stage! It is no wonder why they are known as “the cutest sheep in the world”!
Their wool has some unique attributes.
With a different type of wool than regular sheep, the uses for it is slightly different. The wool of blacknosed sheep is more coarse than a typical sheep so it is primarily used for carpeting or felting.
Easily tamed and friendly.
The sheep are known to be calming and easily tamed. The combo makes them a great companion for anyone looking for a special pet!
Instead of trying to find some crazy dog breed, get one of these!
Look, we all get that having a unique dog breed that nobody can pronounce is a great way to get some attention. The flipside of this, however, is that having a sheep to post on Instagram is sure to garner some serious likes.
The possibilities are endless!
With dogs, you are often limited to only a few names. The classic names are usually pretty boring and generic but with a sheep? You would be able to be fresh and dynamic with your naming! Wooly, Baaaary, Lamby, and Bah Bah are some simple ones to get you started!
Regardless of if you get this sheep breed or not, there are always options.
