These blue bananas aren't just pretty – they taste like vanilla ice cream too
Mother Nature is the greatest artist in history. You never know whether her creation is beautiful, savage, or both! There are so many species of plants and animals that we haven’t begun to discover them all. Nature is always full of something new and radical that humans love to see and sometimes… eat.
These blue bananas are shockingly cool.

We all know what a banana looks like. They are one of the most common fruits to see and are known by their yellow, boomerang looking exteriors. If you had to describe the taste of a banana, you would probably struggle to say anything but “banana flavor”.
The species that the United States is most familiar with has some exotic cousins.
Outside of the normal yellow and sometimes green bananas we are used to, in different parts of the world there is a special species known as Java Bananas. They seem to be fake at first sight but are actually real!
With baby blue skin and a unique taste, you would think this was some GMO freak!

If you saw a baby blue banana, it would be quite shocking. If you then tried that banana and it tasted like vanilla ice-cream, you might think it was cooked up in some lab! Well, all of these things are true except for the lab! Java Bananas are blue in color and taste like vanilla ice-cream. Incredible, right?
They supposedly have a texture that is different than yellow bananas too.
People who have eaten them detail the experience. They say that they are much fluffier and have a creamier texture than other bananas. For many, they don’t even believe they exist when they first hear about them!
Java Bananas have different names.

To hopefully prove their existence, here are some of the different names that they go by. Outside of just Java Bananas, the variety grown in Fiji is known as the Hawaiian banana. In the Philipines, most people refer to them as Krie and in Central America, they call them Cenizo. They are quite a bit more common in South Asia and that is the best place to look.
They grow a bit better in cooler climates.
The bananas can survive in cooler climates than the average banana can. You don’t want to grow them where it gets below 40 degrees Farenheight, however.
The best part? They are good for you!
These bananas are still a fruit, even though they taste like vanilla ice-cream! For people who want a snack that isn’t going to break the diet budget, these may be worth the investment. As most bananas are, they are high in potassium and other micronutrients.
You can prepare them frozen or cook them to bring out the flavor.
If you have never had a fried banana, you aren’t living! This would probably taste wonderfully fried or roasted on a grill. When you roast fruit, it brings out their natural sweetness and makes them taste absolutely wonderful.
You can order them online or travel to get them.
If you now suddenly have a craving for them, you can find them online to order. If you can’t swing the purchase, you could always watch the video below and see someone else eat them.
