Karaoke is most often performed on cruises, bars, and bachelorette parties, but something else happened this time. Sitting on a park bench, a man starts singing one of the most famous songs of a generation… “Livin on a Prayer”.

You never really know what to expect at any public park. This was one of those unexpected moments. An unidentified man sitting on a park bench begins to sing the classic hit.

Even watching the video, everyone knows what about to happen. Maybe the rasp of the man’s voice or the pure confidence in which he sings draws you in. Regardless, within moments the entire park joins in as he approaches the chorus.

Knowing his impact, he lifts his drink in the air as a sign of victory. With aplomb, he nods as the video swiftly ends.

Who is this man?

While we don’t know specifics on who he is, we do have some guesses! Through some internet guessing, some people have come up with some possible solutions.

In this video, we see a man singing in a subway. Can you guess the song being sung? With the same emotion and just the perfect amount of rasp, the mystery subway mans launches into the Bon Jovi classic with equal vigor. While we can’t be certain that this is our mystery man, it is fun guessing!

From the video description, we see the subway being referred to as the “Tube”, which is typical for people from London. Maybe our mystery man lives in the UK!

Matej Priteržnik is the one who uploaded the video. In an interview, Matej said that he didn’t upload the original! He got the video from a friend and forgot about it for quite a while! When he did eventually go back through his phone, he knew that he wanted to share it.

“One persona can change everything,” he said. “This video is amazing and highlights the humanity and community that exist deep in us all.” [Matej]

Bon Jovi almost didn’t release the song!

The world would be worse off without the song “Livin on a Prayer” in it. And that’s almost what happened! Jon said that he almost left it off of the album “thinking it wasn’t good enough” but meeting with a group of teenagers changed his mind and it was added to the album.” [Songfacts]

The song hit deep with American youth, particularly those in New Jersey. The song was based on a real-life situation that happened with one of the writers in the 70’s!
