Boy truly believes he can hug ex-dogfighting pit bull and family waits on bated breath
Pit bulls are arguably the most misunderstood dogs out there. While most people tie them with aggressive behavior, dog fights, and violence, these puppies can be as loving and gentle as any other dog. Betsy the pit bull is an excellent example.
Betsy never wanted to fight; she was a gentle doggo, but her owner turned her into a bait dog. When rescuers finally saved her, Betsy was in a lot of pain. She was shredded to pieces, and vets didn’t think she would survive. However, her lust for life prevailed. Watch Betsy’s incredible journey to a full recovery. Beware, you’ll probably cry.
Dogfighting is a horrific example of animal abuse.
Pouches only want to be loved. They’ll share your joy, they’re always ready to cuddle, and don’t even get us started about how loyal these animals are. How can someone abuse these adorable creatures? Well, the profit is one of the answers.
We all know that dogfighting revolves around money, but the animal abuse behind it is cruel. Did you know that dogfighting is a felony offense in all 50 states? Moreover, it is also a felony to bring a minor to an animal fight.
Because Betsy didn’t want to fight, her owner put her out to be a bait dog.
Unfortunately, bait dogs are used to test other dogs’ fighting instincts. Owners use poor bait dogs to train other animals to be more aggressive, making them better fighters.
Bait dogs are victims, and they usually don’t live long. Betsy seemed doomed.
We have to warn you: Some of Betsy’s injuries are really terrible.
It’s hard to look at the poor dog in such a sad state.
We can’t even imagine her agony. She had open wounds all over her body, most of them were infected, and doctors weren’t sure if they could save her.
In 2016, Betsy was finally saved, and the torment was over.
Victor Larkhill, the owner of letsadoptinternational.com, and the rest of the medical staff decided to do everything they could to save Betsy.
They performed several surgeries, and Betsy received tons of stitches. Vets also had to make sure that everything around Betsy was clean and sanitary, or else her life was in danger.
Against all odds, Betsy began to recover.
It was the joyful moment everyone was hoping for, but it didn’t happen overnight. It took eight long months until Betsy’s wounds healed.
She was so scared and sad when she first arrived at the hospital. Luckily, her health and faith in humans were successfully restored.
We are happy that trusting Betsy was given a second chance to find a loving family.
As soon as she felt completely well, Betsy was put out for adoption. Larkhill wanted to find a fantastic family that would show Betsy how precious she is.
Finally, Betsy’s new parents arrived. The dog went to a family with children, and the kids fell in love with her immediately. Today, Betsy has a sibling, and she couldn’t be happier.
Fishing is one of Betsy’s most favorite hobbies.
Although she’s not a great fisherman, Betsy loves to spend time jumping in the water. There is a river near her family’s house, and it is a real paradise for her.
Betsy’s painful story, fortunately, has a happy ending. She almost paid the ultimate price for her gentle character, but good people didn’t allow it to happen. Good luck, Betsy. Have a lot of fun with your new family. You surely deserve it.
