Boy in foster care for 11 years is in disbelief finding out couple would like to adopt him

They say good things come to those who wait, and this is true, especially for a young boy named Alex.

The kid had been waiting for someone to finally offer him a forever home.

He had been in foster care for 11 years and after such a long time, Alex thought no one would ever want to accept him as a permanent part of their home.

But, that was until he met Jenny and Stephen Madkour.

We all know that every child deserves to have a home that would give them all the love and care they need.

Unfortunately, this is not always the case for every kid.

The foster system is a way for these kids to have a semblance of a family, but things do not always end up in them being adopted.

In the United States alone, a study shows that there are already beyond 400,000 kids within the foster system.

Every foster child has their own story to tell and Alex has 11 years of that in his heart.

He is 13 years old and had been a part of the foster system for a year over a decade.

He was hoping for a family to finally adopt him, but his hope was not as bright as before, because it has been so long since he started wishing to have his own permanent home.

Alex was only a couple of years old when he first entered the foster system.

At such a young age, anybody would think that the child will be adopted soon. But, the offer never came for Alex.

For the next 11 years, the young boy moved from one foster home to another, without ever having the chance to be a part of their home in its real sense.

His heart would always hope for the best, but he would end up being moved to another family who would welcome him in their home for only a temporary time.

It was heartbreaking, and the routine was something that he hoped would be broken through an actual adoption.

As he grew older, Alex learned how not to be too attached to the families he met.

“It was a really big struggle to [think] ‘OK, I’m going from this home, in two weeks I’m going to another home,” Alex shared with KOIN 6.

Alex has learned to guard his heart and not expect too much, which is why when he heard that a couple wanted to adopt him, he could not believe it.

Jenny and Stephen Madkour saw a segment from Jeff Gianola’s Wednesday’s Child, and that was where they saw Alex for the first time.

The couple felt a connection with the young boy and wanted to get to know him better.

“Anybody who’s seen that video of Alex, his core awesome comes out in that video,” Jenny said in her interview. “It was such a great thing, the way Jeff Gianola talked to him and Alex’s interaction with him, it really gave us a glimpse of who Alex is.”

Just before Thanksgiving that year, Alex received the news of his adoption from Boys and Girls Aid.

It was unbelievable for him that someone would actually want to adopt him. Was everything he was hearing true?

Fortunately, he was not dreaming and everything he thought would never happen is now becoming a reality.

The couple processed his adoption papers and have never been happier.

Alex has learned to let his guard down and just be as free and happy as he can be.

They are now a big happy family who found love in each other.
