Every photo holds a thousand memories.

Mikey Marotta, a young little boy was Jessica and Michael Marotta’s only child, not until he asked for a sibling. According to his parents, their kindhearted child was very vocal and persistent at the same time in asking for a baby brother.

His mom, Jessica shared that whenever they’re asked by Mikey, her answer was always “when it’s time.” Little did the little boy know, that his parents were doing everything they could to be pregnant again. However, despite their best efforts, they were always given a negative result.

In 2016, a piece of good news knocked on the Marottas’ residence.

After countless times trying to be pregnant, finally, the long wait was finally over because the pregnancy test result turned out positive. Taken away by so much happiness, the couple immediately shared the good news with their parents. Their loved ones, friends, and everyone who knew about the good news were beyond excited, especially those who knew about their struggles in the past.

Jessica and the rest of her family were all taken to cloud 9, Christmas was also just a few days away at that moment and they couldn’t be happier with the new blessing that they had received.

Unfortunately, just 11 weeks after, Jessica started bleeding while at work, and the following day – her baby’s heart stopped beating. They were beyond devastated and couldn’t believe what had happened, to call them heartbroken was actually an understatement.

The only silver lining about it was that Mikey was unaware of their loss.

They never wanted to crush Mikey’s heart, the couple could only imagine how it could’ve impacted their little boy in such a negative way if it so happened that he knew about it. Jessica and Michael kept it a secret from their boy and grieved by themselves for their fallen little angel.

The couple even decided to move to a new community and their plans about getting pregnant were also put on hold – in fact, they almost gave up on it.

“Every time Mikey asked for his baby brother, we would explain to him that there may be a chance that he may never get a baby brother. It broke our hearts to say these words to him, but we found a way to settle into a life just the three of us in our new home and enjoy our summer.” Jessica told Love What Matters.

Eight months after the miscarriage, a miracle happened!

Jessica discovered that she was pregnant again, however, she feared about losing their baby again so she decided not to tell Mikey about it until she was past the first trimester of her pregnancy.

“I was shocked that we were pregnant … but then we refused to get excited. We were so scared that we didn’t talk about it at all. We wanted to wait until we were out of the first trimester to tell our siblings,” Jessica shared.

“He was very teary-eyed and excited. He was very emotional. [He] wanted to know when the baby was going to come,” she added while telling Mikey’s reaction after learning about her pregnancy.

Another hurdle to overcome.

Due to complications, Jessica needed to deliver the baby via emergency C-section at 30 weeks and 6-days. Then on March 6th, the newest member of their family was born, Jake, who weighed in at just 1 pound and 12 ounces. Because he’s a premature baby, Mikey wasn’t able to welcome his baby brother right away.

The young boy patiently waited for more than a week before he finally had the chance to be with his newborn brother, Jake. At long last, after years of asking and waiting, his wish had been finally granted.

When the family finally got home, Mikey and Jake quickly bonded and became inseparable.

“[Mikey] loves him so much. He snuggles with him, he says the most beautiful things to him and tells him funny stories,” Jessica said.

They will surely create tons of beautiful memories together.
