Little boy enters shelter and adopts the cat that nobody else wanted
For children, there’s almost nothing more magical than finally being allowed to have a pet at home. Whether it’s an adorable four-footer or a lovely cat, pets are a child’s best friend and will always be an important part of their lives. This little boy, Easton, was asking his parents to let him have a cat for a while now, and he couldn’t contain his excitement when they finally agreed to take in a furry friend.
It didn’t take long before the little boy and his parents went to the shelter to find a new family member.
The family resides in Exploits Valley, Canada, and decided to go to the local SPCA shelter. Easton’s mom and dad gave him absolute freedom – they said he could pick any of the cats or dogs at the shelter. When he made up his mind, everyone was quite surprised.
Easton picked the one animal that the shelter thought would never get adopted.
The little boy was actually still debating whether he should pick a dog or a cat, but when he first saw Tiny, an orange tabby, there was not a single doubt in his mind anymore. Tiny was the one for Easton and the two instantly bonded with each other. Tiny was usually a very shy cat, but that all disappeared when he met his new best friend.
Even though this cat may listen to the name ‘Tiny’, his size is anything but. He’s quite big for a cat and was actually the largest feline they had at the shelter for a while. Tiny was an elderly cat and the staff simply thought he wouldn’t get adopted anymore because of his size and senior age.
“Tiny isn’t a picky eater, but is ‘weight challenged’ and has a big round belly that he loves to have rubbed,” the shelter posted in their adoption ad.
None of that mattered for Easton, however, who’s very glad that he’s got his own ‘Garfield’ in the house now.
Tiny was actually brought in to the shelter along with his sibling Trinity. His previous owners had to deal with some personal issues and couldn’t take care of the two felines anymore, so they surrendered them to Exploits Valley SPCA. His previous owner knew that it would be very difficult for Tiny to get adopted, but then Easton came along. Luckily, Tiny and Trinity didn’t really have much of a sibling bond, so being adopted separately wasn’t a problem.
After Easton’s parents took care of the paperwork, it was time to take Tiny home. The boy couldn’t stop smiling the entire trip home!
“Easton’s mom told him he could adopt a new pet,” the shelter wrote on their Facebook page. “He had the choice between a puppy dog or a cat. He chose to adopt Tiny, a 10-year-old cat who had just lost his home. On the ride home Tiny got out of his cage and cuddled in with his new owner and has been stuck to him ever since. Great job Easton, Tiny is one lucky cat!”
Easton and Tiny are the best of the friends and are completely inseparable! The heartwarming picture of the two went viral and was liked tens of thousands of times.
“What a wonderful, good, kind and caring boy you are, Easton! So happy Tiny has found his furever home with you! Happiness to both of you!” Aurelia Annang commented.
“Omg. They are both soo cute together. I’d have prob picked that ginger cat too,” Nancy Weatherly added.
What an adorable duo!
