Boy with prosthetic leg meets his 'soulmate' after befriending puppy with no paw

A little boy named Paxton Williams was premature when he was born and he developed an infection in his right leg which, unfortunately, stopped it from growing.

This was never easy for his parents who, later on, were forced to make a difficult decision – to have the affected leg amputated. For the record, this was done when the poor boy was only four years old.

Trying to still live a normal life and in order for him to walk, little Paxton then started using a prosthetic leg.

Just a year ago, this high-spirited kid from Minnesota met his “perfect match”.

It’s a golden retriever named Marvel and as fate would have it, the dog was missing a paw. Together, they defied all the odds by weathering the storm of their situation.

Their similarity made them different from the others, but that didn’t stop them from living their lives to the fullest, let alone becoming friends.

Paxton and Marvel’s meeting became possible through Barb Felt, the owner of Rolling Oaks Garden. Her farm specializes in breeding and raising high-pedigree golden retrievers.

Her former client who happened to be Paxton’s occupational therapist told her about the boy. After learning the kid’s story, she thought the two might instantly click as buddies.

The search is on.

In their search for Marvel’s potential new owners, they tried reaching out to people through their social media accounts. Soon after, adoption requests came down pouring, each one of them was hoping they could bring the adorable pup home.

Barb, however, really wanted to give Marvel to someone who truly deserves her. She had recently seen a beautiful video of a young girl with prosthetic legs who became very happy after adopting a dog born without a paw.

Right there and then, she knew Marvel could also bring someone that type of joy.

She wasted no time and contacted Paxton’s father, Blaine Williams, soon after, both parties decided to let the little boy and Marvel meet.

“We spoke and they came and they met Marvel,” Barb recalled. “At that time we hadn’t really named Marvel yet. Marvel was our favorite name and we asked if they (the Williams) like that name because of course if she was going to be their puppy, we wanted Paxton to like the name. He’s a big fan of the Avengers so he loved the name.”

The search is over.

Little Paxton finally met Marvel and it was nothing but perfection, it was clear that they were made to be together and to become friends.

Before being able to bring home the adorable pup, she had to be checked for the last time to make sure she was physically fit. The adoption process took roughly three weeks but it was all worth the wait.

Marvel eventually settled into her new forever home and forever family. In fact, Paxton’s mom, Stephanie Williams, said that the pup made her son more confident and comfortable when talking about his story with other people.

“It gives him the opportunity to tell the kids, ‘Oh she’s missing a paw, she’s like me,’ and like it gives him that voice, too, to advocate for himself,” she said.

With how beautiful things have turned out for the family, particularly Paxton and Marvel, Barb was grateful that she made the right decision.

“Like I said previously, a match made in heaven,” Barb said. “They’re a great family. We just feel so fortunate to be a part of this for them.”

Now that Paxton and Marvel have each other’s back, they are ready to face the world together. We are certain that these new best buddies will soon start creating beautiful memories together and not even their situation can stop them.
