When it comes to children and adults, there’s always one lesson that stands out. It’s not hard to miss that children are much more curious and open to the world than adults are.

They are much more welcoming, less judgmental, and more willing to give love. It just goes to show that we are innately compassionate and understanding – and that negative feelings toward things are learned and taught.

In the streets of Grozny, Chechnya, a boy is making waves.

In a video shared on Facebook, the boy, known by The Dodo as Ibrahim, can be seen doing his fair share of good deeds for the day.

The video was taken from a distance which may suggest that Ibrahim was not aware that someone was watching how he was treating the local stray dogs in their area.

Stray dogs have always been treated at a disadvantage.

No matter where you go, you’d always see stray dogs being tracked down, hunted, and worst, getting killed.

They are abandoned and left to fend for themselves while they are forced to live in the most dangerous and secluded places. People hold prejudice against them that they are sick, rabid, and aggressive. As such, what has already been a difficult journey to get a better life is made even more difficult.

But Ibrahim understands dogs.

And somehow, the dogs understand him. They somehow know the good intentions he holds in his heart and that he only means to make them feel loved and seen.

In the viral video, Ibrahim kneels down to the dogs’ level. He was on his way to school that day but he had to make some important stopovers first.

He could just go on his way and continued with his day.

But he knew the dogs he passed by needed to know what love felt like. He offered one of the dogs a big hug. The dog and Ibrahim were even the same height with the dog sitting and the boy kneeling. This didn’t scare the boy, however.

He even hugged the dog that was lying just beside him. It was then that a resident saw what Ibrahim was doing and decided to take a video of him. Maybe they were hoping that this simple act of kindness can bring smiles to everyone’s faces.

And they’ve guessed correctly.

People all over the internet expressed their appreciation for the boy and his actions. They mentioned the rarity of it and how much of it was needed today.

“One of the most precious and hopeful things I have seen in a long, long time.” One commenter said. “God bless the animals and the child.”

“Such an awesome little boy to give some love to stray dogs.” Said another.

The boy was identified after someone they knew saw the video.

“I saw the video. That’s Ibrahim,” Katerina, a friend of Ibrahim’s family, told The Dodo. “He goes to school with my daughter and helps her carry her bag. He’s a very kind boy.”

It only goes to show that as children, we are innately kind. We only have to reconnect to that kindness to make this world a little bit better.
