Boy serenades baby brother with Down Syndrome says "Aren’t we all different?"

While “sibling rivalry” is real, there’s also a lot of love between brothers and sisters, especially when raised by loving parents who teach kids to be accepting of one another. One family was excited as they prepared to bring a new life into the world. The baby boy was gorgeous, sweet, and born with Down Syndrome.

He joined four siblings, all of them super excited to have a little brother. Even if he had special circumstances, it didn’t matter. This Arkansas mom and dad got to witness for themselves just how deep a bond can be between brothers. By sharing a video of a sweet moment, we all have the opportunity to witness it too.

Facts about Down Syndrome

Every year in the United States alone, roughly 6,000 babies are born with Down Syndrome. That means the risk of parents having a baby with this disorder is about 1 in every 700 births. Years ago, there was a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding regarding Down Syndrome. Today, these children can thrive.

They knew it was important to educate their other children about the baby’s condition

They named the baby Tripp and spoke with their other children about Down Syndrome and what to expect. Nicole said, “I didn’t want our boys to be ashamed of him because he’s still their little brother regardless of what he has.” That’s when one of the couple’s older sons, Rayce, chimed in, “Aren’t we all different?”

The children immediately took to Tripp

As soon as the baby came home, the other kids fell in love with him. In their eyes, he was just another brother. Rayce, in particular, felt very protective of him. As a young boy who loves to sing, he began singing to Tripp. One day, Nicole grabbed her phone and began videotaping him as he sang “10,000 Hours.”

It’s as though this song was written specifically for this special baby

The words to this song are beautiful. “I’d spend 10,000 hours, and 10,000 more if that’s what it takes to learn that sweet heart of yours. I might never get there but I’m going to try if it’s 10,000 hours or the rest of my life, I’m going to love you.”
