Boy’s heart wrenching reunion with his dog has internet in tears
Having your pet come up missing can be a heartbreaking experience, especially when you are a kid. So, when 10-year-old Tyler Bandy’s dog Bruiser came up missing, he and his family never thought they would see him again.
Chasing after some rabbits
Whenever Bruiser went on a walk with his family on a cold January day, no one had any clue what was about to happen. As the family and their pet walked, Bruiser gave chase after some rabbits.
That was the last they saw of him as they returned to their home in Polk County, Florida.
The Bandy family searches for Bruiser
The family searched high and low for their lost pet but to no avail. Posters were placed around the area and even posted on Facebook. The family also checked in with the local animal control regularly. They began to lose hope that they would ever see Bruiser again. Tyler was heartbroken.
Bruiser was missing for two months
Weeks passed, and the family started to get a sinking feeling in their stomachs, Bruiser was really gone. But then they got some welcome news.
Bruiser had been found
“That’s when the phone rang,” the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook. “Turns out their dog had been picked up by somebody on their way to Highlands County and, after a couple of months, it wound up in the hands of our animal services folks.”
One of the staff members at animal services thought she recognized Bruiser but from where? After digging around, she found a post about the missing dog on Facebook. Once his identity was confirmed, the family made plans to surprise Tyler.
“To say Bruiser had a joyous homecoming would be putting it lightly,” the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office said.
A happy and tear-filled reunion
As Tyler walked through the door of his home, Bruiser bounded toward him. The look of surprise and immediate recognition on Tyler’s face is priceless. Before you know it, Tyler has collapsed on the floor, welcoming his long-lost buddy.
As he sits there, happy to see his lost dog again, Tyler starts to sob. Bruiser meanwhile, showered Tyler with doggie kisses, his tail wagging as fast as it can.
“[Tyler] was simply overcome when his parents surprised him with his best friend,” the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office said. “The two have been inseparable since.”
