Say what you want about these boys, but there’s no denying that their performance is anything other than highly original.

Dance is a surprisingly broad medium. You can have the beautiful gracefulness and discipline of ballet, and then you can have… this.

When Nolan and Jayden heard that their school, J. Lloyd Crowe Secondary School in Canada, was having a talent contest, they were determined to do something that no one had seen before.

A few weeks, a lot of rehearsals, two tutus and a beach ball later, and the two kids had perfected their routine.

The two kids walked out from behind curtains wearing only tutus, short shorts and high socks. Some of the girls in the audience cheered out in appreciation already. Obviously, the boys had some secret admirers.

Nolan carried a beach ball. Just what kind of show were they about to put on?

The Bonnie Tyler song Total Eclipse of the Heart started playing. The two boys started circling one another, looking at each other as they did so.

Then they walked right up to one another and placed the beach ball between their chests.

They looked to the crowd longingly. Then they each placed an arm on each other’s upper arms and slid back, keeping the beach ball in place. They stopped when the beach ball rested in their hands. Then they walked back to each other, switched arms and walked back again.

Next, they twisted to the side and moved the ball all across their bodies. When the ball reached their hands, they twisted it over their hands, keeping it suspended in the air.

Then they managed to get the ball behind their bodies and walked from side to side, having it roll over their backs.

Next, the two boys faced each other again and raised their arms as if about to perform a pirouette. Then one of the boys revolved around the other, keeping the ball suspended between their bodies.

When the boys were facing each other again, they linked hands and started dancing together, still keeping the ball between them.

Then the boys did something that would wow everyone. One of the boys sank down and crawled under the legs of the other boy, taking the beach ball with him as he did this.

Sadly, the ball slipped away before he could complete the move.

The boy tried again and failed again. But the other boy held the ball so that the other could complete the move. The audience still cheered anyway.

Then the boys did a little more revolving around the ball and backed away from each other. They headed the beach ball back and forth. Then Nolan bounced the ball on his head.

When the two started heading it back and forth again, they started walking closer, again getting the beach ball between their chests.

Finally, the boys kicked the beach ball out to the crowd. Then Jayden produced a tiny ball. They toyed with doing some of the same moves with that one, before giving up.

Luckily, someone was filming the entire thing. The video soon made its way onto YouTube, where it has become popular. To date, the video has gained over 100,000 views. It also has some appreciative comments:

Nolan and Jayden have really busted the stereotype of teenage boys. It turns out that they think about much more than just the thing they shouldn’t be thinking about!
