Woman lived alone in fairytale forest home now shares the rooms with the public

Ever dreamed of living in a home much more magical than what you currently have? I think we all have at some point.

When the sight of concrete and asphalt becomes an eyesore, we all wish we could just pack up and move into a fairytale or storybook home. Don’t tell me you haven’t thought of living in a Hobbit home at least once.

But what is a dream for us is a reality for a few people.

This woman lived in a home straight out of a fairytale for 8 years.

This lady is Suzanne, and she has a home that shouldn’t be real. A home like this isn’t something most people will get to have.

Constructed mostly from wood, this dream home looks like it’d be a residence for some elves.

The “Forest house” is a fairytale-like home located in Orcas Island, Washington.

It owes a lot of its charm to the geometry seen throughout the complex. The individual rooms are all octagonal or curved, and are separated by cute wooden balconies.

It is rather reminiscent of Lothlorien from The Lord of The Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring.

The home sits within the trees, and blends right in. It’s got cute lights all around – something that probably looks beautiful at night.

Suzanne purchased the home in 2002. “It captured my heart” she said.

Designed and built by SunRay Kelley, the home shows off his experience with unconventional shapes and geometry. Kelley has made other similarly fairy-tale like homes in his career.

And remember when I liked it to something from The Lord of the Rings? Well, I was hardly exaggerating.

For instance, the living room. The modern furniture may be cozy, but they don’t exactly look “fairytale”. But once you turn your attention to the walls and doors, things change.

The living room doors and walls look like out of Rivendelle.

What’s more, the treetops are right outside. Being close to greenery always makes a house feel more homely.

The outdoor deck is scenic and breathtaking in every way. It’s open, cozy, and well-lit. All while keeping that forest, woodland home theme.

And the bathroom might be the best part.

The bathroom is a small, round room with a Japanese soaking tub and a gorgeous view. Natural wooden-colors dominate the scene, and the small windows provide view of the peaceful, gorgeous lights outside.

I bet it’d be really hard to get out of the bathroom with a view like that.

Suzanne eventually decided that a home like this is best shared with other people. After living in it as her private residence for 8 years, she set it up as a vacation rental home.

The bedroom is cute enough, but the tower bedroom is the real star of this show.

Sitting even higher near the treetops, the tower bedroom is as magical of a bedroom as it sounds. It’s all wood, and the warm light from the lamp highlights the wooden interior beautifully.

And the view is to die for.

You can see most of the surrounding forest from up here, making you truly feel like a woodland elf.

This breathtaking home is on an island that’s only accessible by ferry. So it’s obviously not cheap.

But it may be a once in a lifetime opportunity for many people to spend time here. I know I wouldn’t pass it up.
