Irish dancers perform beautiful routine at wedding – then bride steps in to join them

Weddings always have some form of dancing! For some, it is their favorite part and for others is it the scariest moment of the event! This wedding had something a bit different when it came to dancing. Instead of the typical pop-dancing that is common, this bride and groom had a full Irish routine with a special piece at the end.

Dancing at weddings is a tradition that goes back as far as history!

Cultures across the world throw ceremonies in celebration of two people coming together. American weddings often sport a white dress and cake with a similar structure and flow, while other weddings look much different. Middle Eastern weddings are often extravagant and celebratory, more than even the greatest American weddings! One of the most common themes no matter where you are getting hitched is the dancing!

Dancing is ancient within the human tradition.

Dancing as celebration, mourning, theatricality, and spirituality are all pieces of our ancient heritage. Each culture has adopted their own versions and parts for dancing.

At this wedding, the reception started off a bit differently!

As the reception began, the song “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon came on! Soon after, a few young girls began dancing on the stage in the Irish folk fashion!

Using their legs and feet, they were awesome as they clicked and stomped away!

Most Irish dancing traditions use your legs and have some type of clog or shoes that makes a tapping noise when dancing. Tap shoes! As the first set of girls was finishing their piece, more came on the scene!

Soon, the entire stage was covered in girls doing a full tap-dance routine to the song!

As they went back and forth, their upper halves were still and their lower halves were a flurry of activity. It is believed that tap dancing originated like this because it was a way to dance in pubs that were crowded in Ireland. No room to use your arms? Just use your feet!

The big surprise was the bride herself stepping in!

More than just a figure in white, the bride stepped forth and did her own routine with the flower girl! Backed up by the previous dancers behind her, the bride showed off to the entire guest list!

And for the finale…

As the bride swung around to complete the last part of the dance in unison with all of the young girls, her new husband appeared on the scene.

With a flourish and a slight mishap, the two gave the crowd what they were looking for.

As the groom stepped forward, the two danced and did a wonderful twirl (with the groom almost messing it up!). As the final twist happened, the two leaned over and gave the crowd a big kiss for the books. It’s their wedding! What else did you expect?

The creativity was worth it! It resulted in an incredible dance and a viral video.
