Brothers in separate foster homes receive news that they will be adopted together

Brothers Tre and Ke’lynn had been in Child Protective Custody for three and a half years, living mostly in separate foster homes. It’s a set up that causes them sadness and pain.

The boys had to heal from their situation but they did want to live together one day.

“I want to see him every day and I don’t,” Ke’lynn cried to WFAA.

Tre was 10 and Ke’Lynn was 7, as they answered questions, mostly silent with tears in their eyes.

“You guys are just about all each other has anymore, right? So you want to make sure you’re with him, right?” Izaguirre, WFAA anchor, asked Tre.

The brothers had to settle for seeing each other once a month. It was hard but they only had each other to rely on. The boys did not want to separate during those heartbreaking visits.

Izaguirre asked Tre if he could have any wish, and his answer was to live with his brother.

“We’re gonna do our very very best to make sure that happens,” the reporter reponded.

It only took a month when a man saw the Wednesday’s Child story about the brothers. So he made the big decision to step up for the boys.

“I was crying mostly because it just pulled at my heartstrings, and I felt an instant connection with the boys, and I said I’ve got to figure out a way to get these boys in my home and learn more about them,” Dr. Robert Beck recalled.

Tre and Ke’lynn did go on to stay with Beck but it wasn’t formal until the adoption papers were ready.

But on July 18, 2018, the boys found themselves in a North Texas courtroom with Beck. The brothers thought they were just there to take pictures until they heard the news.

“Guess what? Today’s adoption day,” Beck told the brothers.

Tre smiled and hugged his dad, while Ke’lynn couldn’t help but smile.

Tre and Ke’lynn could finally live together just like they had always wanted.

“We got adopted today, and I feel good,” Tre said just after the judge made the adoption official.

Seven heartbreaking months of being apart was over for the brothers. They now have a loving father, an older brother, and a village of helpers who will always have their backs.

Tre and Ke’lynn get to live the rest of their days with an amazing man.

“Just being able to give them a forever home and know that they’re forever mine is just super special,” Beck said. “I love them. With all my heart.”

Going home to different houses was over. This time, it’s one home, together.

The boys do have an older brother who was also a Wednesday’s Child. Beck adopted him after seeing a report along with three other kids.

Beck himself is adopted. He says his heart is always open to adopt since he wants to give abandoned children the love he has received. What a great man.
