Bulldog abandoned on street with severe mange gets posh new life in L.A.

Many dogs who live on the streets end up traumatized by their experiences. This can make it hard to rehabilitate the most extreme of cases. In instances such as this, it seems the dog has given up hope, even after being rescued.

Fortunately, a bulldog puppy found abandoned on the street was able to find hope at a new life in a loving home, but at first, her rescuers were not too sure.

After Slaughterhouse Survivors got word of the bulldog, who was living on the street and eating leaves to survive, they sprang into action. When they found her, she was in bad shape.

She didn’t even seem relieved that she had been saved. She was depressed and had resigned herself to her life on the street.

After she was evaluated, it was found that she had a severe case of the mange. The result was badly infected skin and almost no fur on her body. Naming her Pumpkin, the staff worked tirelessly to save her life.

According to the vet, her body temperature was extremely low. And if not rescued when she was, chances are she would have died.

The first course of action was to put Pumpkin on antibiotics, pain medicine, and pumping her full of fluids via an IV.

They worked to warm her dangerously low body temperature up by pumping a warm saline solution into her body through the IV.

Pumpkin still had a long road ahead of her.

Instead of getting better, Pumpkin developed a fever.

Fortunately, it was only the4 flu and the vet expected her to make a full recovery, which she did. Once she was better, the staff started the arduous process of removing the scaly, dead skin from her body.

Once that was done, she started to recover.

Pumpkin started to eat more and put on some weight. She also had surgery on her eyes. The surgery was a success and she started to feel much better, getting her will to live back.

Her fur even started to grow back, which was encouraging to everyone at the shelter.

Renaming her Kennedy, her family helped her settle into her California lifestyle, taking her to the beach on many occasions.

Her family also discovered that she loves to eat peanut butter.
