Reuben is used to getting his way. But what happens when his owner wants some personal space?

When Reuben got adopted, the shelter said that he needed constant love and attention.

Of course, no owner can possibly give a dog constant attention. But Reuben’s owner sure tries his hardest.

Whenever the owner lets up and spends some time not cuddling Reuben, the dog sure does hate it. One day, the owner decided to film exactly what happens.

The video begins with the owner lying on the couch. Reuben stands next to the couch, looking up at the owner. He whines, desperately wanting to join the owner.

Then the dog tries jumping up. Reuben is a bulldog, meaning that he isn’t exactly athletic, so he can’t jump all the way onto the owner’s lap.

So the dog tries to get the owner’s attention by breathing on his face.

The owner then explains how bad the dog’s breath is.

Reuben realizes that the owner isn’t going to hoist him onto the couch. So he moodily walks over to his dog bed.

The owner explains that Reuben using his own bed is a rare occurrence.

Then the dog shifts around grumpily. The movements are exaggerated. That bed is comfortable, even if Reuben pretends it isn’t. He’s clearly trying to guilt the owner into picking him up.

When the owner still doesn’t pay him any attention, Reuben turns away grumpily. He barks out in frustration.

The owner goes on to explain that once in a while, he needs a break from Reuben lying on top of him.

While he speaks, the dog keeps on barking, as if trying to counter the owner’s statements.

When the owner finishes speaking, Reuben continues barking. The owner turns to him and says, “Cry all you want. Give me a break just for today. Alright?”

After that, the dog gets up off the bed to stare at the owner angrily. Clearly, Reuben isn’t going to accept this kind of treatment!

The video cuts out there. The owner then uploaded it to Reuben’s YouTube channel, where it soon went viral. To date it has gained over 6.8 million views. It also has more than 139,000 likes and 5,400 comments.

His second most successful video shows what happens when Reuben gets hangry:

Reuben’s vet told the owner that the dog had gained weight. As a responsible person, the owner decided to put the dog on a diet and increase his exercise.

Of course, the dieting and increased exercise didn’t go down well to Reuben.

In the video, the dog was similarly cranky.

He fidgeted around his dog bed and barked. The owner informed Reuben that he couldn’t get fed for another hour.

After explaining this, Reuben sighed and refused to make sustained eye contact with his owner (he did glance over at him sneakily though.)

This video has gained 2.2 million views.

Clearly, the internet adores Reuben’s loud personality. He’s a dog that isn’t afraid to show his emotions. It may irritate his owner occasionally, but that’s all just part of the experience of owning a dog!
