Sandra Bullock steals the spotlight from Tom Hanks during surprise floor piano routine

You’ve seen the famous scene in the movie “Big” when Tom Hanks plays the piano in the toy store right? It’s a classic scene, and many people have put out re-makes of it on YouTube and social media that will make you laugh.

But, the original clip beats all of the attempts to re-create it. Hanks knew exactly what he was doing in that scene.

Hank’s character explains the new toy idea he has to a toy store executive, but then, he realizes the piano on the floor and goes to town. The idea of the film is that he is a boy stuck in an adult’s body, and he loves playing with toys!

Nobody does it better than Tom right!?

Hanks obviously practiced the scene to get it flawless many years ago, so obviously, he would still be good at it. After all, it’s just muscle memory, right? Well, Jonathan Ross wanted to put that muscle memory to the test on his show recently.

Ross had invited some guests onto the show but didn’t tell them what he had planned.

Ross makes a gesture towards the floor while he’s in a conversation with Hanks, and it slowly dawns on everyone what’s about to happen. It’s an optical illusion and something seems to be under the carpet. When Hanks catches a glimpse of what Ross has planned, everyone goes nuts.

The carpet comes completely up and we all see what Ross had in mind during this show episode.

The carpet is removed and a gigantic piano can be seen. The audience quickly realizes that Ross is going to have Tom re-create the scene and everyone cheers.

Next thing you know, Jonathan Ross and Tom Hanks are on the piano and ready to go.

Hanks and Ross step up to the musical instrument and see if they’ve still got it.

Hanks probably had memory after memory flooding back to him. The move was originally released in 1988 and as he steps up he immediately attempts a song.

“Heart and Soul” is the first selection from Tom.

The classic tune is beloved in music circles and many iconic people have performed it together all across the world. In the film, Tom played the tune well, but now it looks as though he may be a bit rusty. We couldn’t figure out why? It’s only been 25 years…

It looks as though Hanks might even need a break.

Remembering the tune is impressive, and being able to play it on the piano with his feet was even more excellent. The audience didn’t hold it over his head when he made a few mistakes, and the two worked well together.

Ross decided to try chopsticks so the two get to chopping away.

They stay together and magically hit all of the notes perfectly. Something might be up, but pretty soon the two tire of their silly dancing.

Until Sandra Bullock steps up to the plate…

Bullock confirms that she can play on the piano without any help and without removing her high-heels. The duo of Hanks and Bullock begin to play chopsticks and are absolutely crushing it until they get to the final note.

Bullock decides she can’t quite make it the whole way. She laughs and says “I’m not hitting that last one!” If she had, she might have been internet famous for a different reason, so we’re glad she knew her limits!
